*It is not a battery* If providing energy to a resistive load, it has an R/C time constant (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RC_time_constant) which describes the charging voltage characteristics and discharge voltage characteristics. Very little exists that can use energy of this type but it is terrific for very high current, short time demands. One amp for one second is a Coulomb of electrons (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coulomb), one Farad can hold one Coulomb at 1 volt. 2 volts will have 2 coulombs and so on. 500 farads would hold 500 Coulombs at 1 volt, at 16 volts is 8000 Coulombs. That's rather a lot for a capacitor. Theoretically 8000 amps for 1 second, but of course it would self destruct at that rate; don't short it out! Its use for solar power is to provide high surge current for starting electric motors (for instance) then the solar panels provide run power and recharge the capacitor. Unlike a battery, capacitors tend to be much more tolerant of high and low temperatures.
