Bought this for a friend's high school graduation. :-D
I wanted her to especially see the pink pages which involve helping you understand yourself and what you want. It didn't fail.I've bought this book about every five years from the first edition to this one, the last written by the original author. Best part of that was each edition had new, updated, information so remained relevant even as times changed. The very best book on the subject that I've seen or read.

Excellent book for teenagers
This is an excellent book for teenagers. It helped two of our children understand more about the process of transitioning from high school to college or work. The author does an excellent job of explaining the options and process for finding a career that is well suited for each individual. The chapters are extremely detailed and the book includes applicable activities for teenagers. I highly recommend it.

Buy this when you have a motivated 9th grader
This was my fault, but when I got this the summer before my son’s Senior year, much of the material we had either already considered, or it was far to late to consider it for him. I could have sent it back, but I gave it to my 9th grader and it is proving beneficial and thought-provoking.

Vital Read for Teens, Parents, Teachers!
Richard Nelson Bolles is *the guru* for navigating the waters of self-discovery, inventing your future with humble confidence that you have good things to offer others that can also become a profitable economic engine, in endeavors you grow to love. Work is called work for a good reason, but it can be far more fulfilling when we choose well, based upon the kind of reflection Kristen (and originally, Bolles) recommends, using the tools she brings to the table for us. The exercises have proven themselves vital for me finding the best fit at several stages of my career. What is more, currently I use this shorter version for guiding high school students at my school to express, analyze, and categorize their achievements and meaningful ventures, recorded as brief vignettes, in order to steer their ambitions toward future success. I commend Carol Christen, Bolles' co-author, for re-packaging the original in such a readable, faster-paced presentation. Most highly recommended!

Excellent resource
This is an excellent resource for young people trying to figure out what they want to do/be "when they grow up" before spending thousands on a college track that proves to be the wrong one!

Bad fit for us
I had heard great things about this book. For our sons it simply was boring and is sitting on the shelf. Multiple attempts were made to read it with no success. I still think it is worth a shot trying as it may work for you or your child.

Great Career Planning Tool for Teens and Young Adults
I purchased this for my two granddaughters and two nieces. They found it invaluable in career planning as they graduated from high school. I had used the adult version for decades (I have a Master's in Counseling) and was happy to see a version more suitable for a younger population.
