Though this might have been a fondont cutter because it was really thin.. it did a great job for roll out cookie dough. I made peony cookies for a baby shower and i was happy with how they came out. The cutter was a durable pretty pink plastic that came in four shapes to create a flower using fondont or gum paste, I would not reccomend on a thick rollout cookie dough for those that make awesome thick cookies if you do you might have to go through it with a thin knife. Really cute set. 🙂

I'm a novice cake decorator and these peony cutters allowed me to make very beautiful peonies for my daughter's birthday cake. The description says three petal cutters but there are FOUR. Also, these cutters allow you to easily make peonies as opposed to having to learn how to do the individual petals and apply them to wires and such. What I mean is, these cutters are one whole section of flower as opposed to having to cut out individual petals. You just stack these petals on top of each other.This is how I made the peonies:I rolled out my gum paste very thinly - I used these cutters - I veined the petal sections and 'ruffled' them using gum paste tools and then I simply stacked each cutout on top of each other by applying a very thin layer of water. I wanted a fuller peony so I cut out three shapes from the smallest cutter, three of the medium cutter, four of the med-large cutter and five of the large cutters. I placed a very thin layer of water on each base of the shapes so they'd stick together - you then place tissue in between the petals so that you could manipulate the shape of the petals; once dried, my peonies looked amazing. Also, I alternated the direction of each petal so that I achieved a more uniform round shape. For the large petals, after cutting them out with cutters, I rolled them out one more time with the rolling pin - doing this achieved even larger petals sections. Just make sure you don't roll out the gum paste too thinly the first time so that the second time you roll them, they won't lose their shape.Again, I'm self-taught, watching countless videos online and cake central . c o m was a great resource for a novice like myself. After using these cutters, I feel confident enough to buy Colette Peter's other more realistic Peony Cutters as I now feel more confident in my gum paste flower creating abilities. I chose to buy these "whimsical" peony cutters because that meant I wouldn't have to learn how to do wired peonies and because I'm still trying to achieve a better gum paste recipe as I'm struggling to get my gum paste to not be so sticky. Cornstarch helps with the stickiness and a little Crisco also helps rolling it out but it would be nice to find a recipe that works as well as the pros use which is a gum paste that seems to be pliable and non-sticky.To other novice cake decorators: I have to add that I watched many videos online on gum paste tutorials and practiced making other, more simple gum paste blossom flowers using plungers and molds before attempting peonies. I also used Nicholas Lodge's gum paste recipe to make all my sugar flowers. I recommend searching Craft sy . c o m, all one word together, for Nicholas Lodge's recipe that's in ounces and pounds as his original recipe is in grams and I didn't have a kitchen scale at the time. His recipe is recommended by many pro cake decorators.The seller delivered on time and item was packaged well.

it is hard to know what to do with it. It would have been great to have directions..
