Q: I eas thinking of placing in my bedroom.... does the system need a separate receiver to power it or can it be used independent of a receiver?

I have a Denon Av-4800 receiver and it has two zones. So I power multiple systems with one receiver. If you don't have this type of receiver you will need two.

Q: I need more than nine feet of cable for the subwoofer. Can I buy a longer cable?

Hi Jared - it's a standard subwoofer cable with a single male RCA plug at either end. The systems are already packaged and provided to Amazon w/ the 9' foot cables, but you can get longer cables from any number of places, including Amazon. The other finishes are available - Pearl White, Hammered Earth, Polished Steel, Antiqued Copper and Antiqued Bronze can all be purchased on Amazon. Unfortunately, Amazon does not permit multiple colors on the same page for electronics so you have to search individually, but they are all there.

Thanks for the question - yes, all of the Orb speakers are the same and they work very well as a center channel and main or surround speakers. The parts are all modular so you can add Orbs to existing channels for more output and a boost to overall performance. The individual speakers can be purchased at the Orb Audio site and we will have these available on Amazon soon.
