Love the TV and especially the Magic Remote
Just received this LG 49UF7600 TV, and I am very pleased. Most notably, I am super impressed with the LG Magic Remote. It's not perfect, but it's far and away the best TV remote I've ever seen - well worth getting the models that offer this feature. The television's picture is outstanding, and unlike to many televisions today, the sound quality equals the picture. I compared the TV's sound to my $200 sound bar, and the television is better!Back to the Magic Remote. I'm still learning all of the features, but the ease of use is incredible. Point and click or use your voice - both work reliably. The only disappointment is that the set-up for the remote does not include the Arris set top box that Verizon Fios now uses (you have to choose "other box" since Arris is not listed). As a result, the Magic Remote doesn't appear to emulate some of the basic controls for DVR and on-demand. This is not a problem if you are watching live TV since the television provides an onscreen channel guide separate from the one that comes up from the set top box, and it works perfectly. On the other hand, if you are watching on-demand movies or a program recorded on the DVR, it seems you have to use the set top box remote. I say "it seems" because I've had the television for a day and perhaps there is a work around that I haven't figured out yet.UPDATE: The remote DOES control my Arris set-top box in DVR or on demand mode. So, it's really perfect! Perhaps the only negative is that I had to figure this out on my own - the instruction manual (online) was not very clear.

Excellent TV, with one caveat
Update 1: I've had the bug a few people have mentioned in their reviews of the screen becoming a checkerboard one time. I am using the latest software version (4.00.45). I wonder if LG is aware of this...Either way, it's only happened once, and turning the TV off and on fixes it, so it's a firmware glitch rather than a hardware problem.First I will start off with the negatives. They aren't huge, and they can be subjective, but to me they add up to a negative star:1) The stand. The picture is kind of misleading in that the stand legs extend almost the entire width of the TV, which is a problem if you have to put it on a narrow stand. The legs can be reversed (pointing inwards) to shave a few inches from both sides, but it is a little more difficult to line up the screws.2) The anchoring system. There is none.3) Audio output. There is no RCA L/R. There is an optical out, and there are inexpensive adapters, but this TV also has a 3.5mm output jack for use with headphones, so there is no real reason they couldn't include L/R jacks.4) The RCA and audio plugs are not secure, they wriggle a bit. It's not a big deal, since you're not going to be replugging them, and unless you really try they're not going to break, but it's an expensive television, and I'd expect secure ports.5) Finishing touches. Mine arrived with fingerprints on the screen. There is plastic protectors around the bezel, but there isn't any film on the screen itself.6) Speakers. The reason I mention this is because LG also mentions it as a selling point. They do produce clear sound, but since they are so thin and small, there is no bass, which is to be expected, so an external sound system is required.7) The remote sensor as it pertains to the power on and off. The reception angle is very narrow which surprises me given how well the smart remote works.8) 1080i and 420p performance. This is the main reason for the negative star. Most HD television stations are 1080i, and this television doesn't upscale that well, and is especially noticeable around the mouth and any fast moving sections, you get artifacts. On a 1080p source, even on an upscaling DVD player, you don't get them, but it is disappointing that this higher end television can't interpolate, especially considering inexpensive DVD players have been doing it for years. Non HD performance isn't great either, so if you get the urge for some vintage gaming or to watch a non HD channel, it's going to be quite fuzzy.9) No front HDMI port. Even though this TV supports screen sharing with compatible devices, it still would be nice to have an easy to get to front USB port if someone wants to show you their pictures, music, or videos from a USB card or directly from the video camera. And now the positives:1) The picture is amazing. Black levels are very black, color reproduction is fantastic, IPS panel for excellent viewing angles, TruMotion works great, the details are excellent coming from a 1080p source, and the variety of picture adjustments you can make is very wide. It supports 4:4:4 Deep Color (on HDMI 1 and 2), so UHD movies are stellar. Even on a fast moving movie, like Taken 4, the picture isn't juttery at all.2) Power efficient. At a rating of $13 per year, and all of 30w of power consumption (backlight 25), it's not going to run up your electric bill. It is also very cool running, so if you put it inside a tightly enclosed area (say you mount it on the wall and build a frame around it) there is little chance of overheating.3) WebOS is intuitive and easy to understand, so if you are buying this for someone older they shouldn't have trouble with it.4) Generous connectivity options. 3 HDMI ports and 3 USB ports ensure adapters shouldn't be needed.5) Easy to connect to any home media server which uses DLNA.6) 802.11ac wireless connectivity so an Ethernet cable is not needed to stream UHD content from a home media server. All in all it's a great TV. 480p 1080i performance notwithstanding, you'd be hard pressed to find a better one.

Most disappointing purchase of the last year.
Ive now had this tv for long enough to comment on how i feel it justifies its worth and while its a pretty looking tv i wouldnt purchase it again... im disappointed in lg for the quality of this tv as ive had it several times fuzz in and out of the screen to where it completely blacks out.. the 4k picture isnt as nice or polished as others ive checked out and this is not streaming 4k its running it native.. video games look okay as long as its a current gen system but otherwise it looks pretty lackluster. I held off for a long time buying a tv and to dump this much money into something that months later im regretting is kinda low. My previous two hdtvs where lg's and ive been a faithful consumer of their products but this ends with this tv. i would love to try a different model or something to see if there is a quality difference in their higher tier tv's but i cant drop more money into something so disappointing. I called the customer service and was told in the most insincere way that there isnt much they can do about my satisfaction. i wanted to be contacted by someone and have my complaint/criticism at least heard but i wasnt given the chance for any of my info to be taken or acknowledged. i ended up selling this for whatever someone locally would pay which was half of what i spent on it unfortunately and purchased a small vizio with what i got from it. Nothing as satisfying as what i was hoping for but i wont drop another $1000 plus dollars on what shouldve been a great product to just get disappointed and ignored. Aside from this the box itself was busted in several spots when it arrived. not a fault of the company but the shipping company who fulfilled the delivery of this. Overall i really wouldve loved something to match the level of excitement i had for wasting money saved up on a new hopefully amazing tv to get junk.
