Suitable for those who travel 15-20+ kms everyday
I have been using Glyd for about 20 days now. Out of these 20, the bicycle was out of commission for 7 days, thanks to a a fault developed in the battery switch due to which the battery would not switch on at all. Lightspeed agreed that there was a fault in the battery switch. I asked them, in the interest of saving time, to dispatch a new battery immediately (while I would return them their faulty battery in 1 or 2 days' time, since I would have to arrange packing material etc.). But they insisted that they would first receive and inspect the battery that I must send them and then they would repair it and send it back. So it would take 3-5 days for my courier to reach them and another 3-4 days for their to reach me. They had a proper plan to keep the bike out of commission for over a week. After much discussion they agreed to dispatch a new battery from their end within 24 hrs of me dispatching the faulty battery from my end. So I had to pack and send the battery back to Lightspeed office at Ahmedabad, which is did the very next day. Thankfully, they arranged the return pickup by Fedex. But, instead of dispatching the battery immediately, they took extra time and by that time the battery that I had sent, reached them, and they quickly repaired the switch and sent it back, instead of a new battery, thereby standing in violation of the discussed and agreed terms. I discussed this breach of trust with them and since there was no remorse or apology, you can safely assume it was a deliberate and intentional act. They did the very thing that they had always planned to do. Which is to repair and return. Not send a new replacement, which ideally they should have, considering that a 30k bicycle's main component stops working within 2 weeks of purchase!!On the positive side, before this incident, I had informed them about the missing reflectors and broken pedal arm, and a missing allen key, which they promptly couriered to me at no extra cost.Other Issues:The bicycle seat when raised keeps sinking back inside. The brakes need alignment very frequently after a few rides on a potholed road. The company doesn't really provide any help on how to align the brakes, which allen bolts to tighten/loosen/adjust to do what. Nothing. Even after repeatedly asking them. They send some silly brochure which only says that maintaining the brakes and lubrication is important, but exactly how to do it, that they don't mention. They just say contact our Service Engineer who will be happy to help you OR they say visit your local cycle mechanic. But nowhere do they mention which points require lubrication and how frequently.Riding the Bike:The bicycle itself is a lot of fun to ride basically because it does all the work for you. On flat roads, the Low Pedal Assist means only about 10% of the normal pedalling effort. Medium PA is -10% (which means that the motor sort of pushes the bicycle forward, while you don't feel any resistance at all. You just have to pedal for the sake of keeping the motor engaged). And High PA is -40% (motor pushes the bicycle really fast). Throttle is for those occasions when you don't want to pedal at all and use it like a moped.Installing Carrier / Mudguards / Basket:By default Lightspeed do not provide mudguards, carrier or basket. (Carrier is available but is quite expensive.) I wanted all of these for my application but found that installing these is not possible without help from a fabrication shop. Reason being that there is a cable that comes out of the rear wheel axle due to which the carrier's ring type end cannot be inserted into the axle nut. Only a carrier with a U-type end can be inserted adjacent to the axle nut. Same way rear mudguards (the traditional round ones) require support from the rear wheel axle nut which is not available. So I had to get 2 brackets fabricated which I installed on the angled arm, and drilled a hole in there and fixed a nut and used that for supporting the carrier. Also, for supporting the front part of the carrier, I had to weld it to a pipe ring, which I then inserted into the seat base. Same way a support had to be fabricated for the base of the front basket. I also welded the seat at the particular height I wanted to prevent it from sliding back.Performance:All said and done, the weight of the bicycle increased by about 10 kgs, but still it is able to carry the load (about 100-120 kg in total including my kids' weight) for a distance of about 30-35 kms, in one battery charge with pedal assist. I read 35 kms on throttle, but I'm getting around 30-35 on pedal assist, which is fine for me.ROI:The single biggest advantage of this bike is that now you don't have to think twice about going out for small errands. There's absolutely no effort involved. And it's practically free after the initial investment. Car petrol saving is significant. Considering an average of 20 kms a day, I end up saving about Rs. 122 a day (@Rs. 6.1/km for my vehicle), which means ROI is 246 days or about 8 months. Worst case, 1 year. The remaining 3 or 4 years of life is a saving/bonus.Security Issues:Security of the bike is a big hassle specially if you live in unsafe localities. It is not possible to carry the battery around every time, in your backpack, like advertised. The battery is quite bulky and heavy. Moreover, the switch may stop working or some other fault may develop the more it is connected and ejected. One more issue I must mention is that if the battery is connected, then there is no real way to prevent the motor from starting and the wheel from turning. Meaning, suppose you have parked the bicycle and locked the frame to some lamp post and gone away. Then the bicycle may not be stolen, but still anyone can switch on the bicycle from the control panel (by pressing ON for 2 seconds) and then operating the throttle will bring the motor to life. If the switch of the battery is off, it can be switched on, and then the throttle can bring the motor to life. There's no security feature to identify the authenticity of the user before access is granted. Anyone can easily switch on.Finally, the bicycles these days are equipped with a clamp-on type of front wheel. This is easily clamped on and just as easily can be clamped off also, which means that the front wheel can be easily removed in a matter of minutes, if it is not chained up. But this is true for almost all the bicycles available in the market these days. Security issue, thought is best to mention it.Overall:After modifications and initial hiccups, this bike is serving my purpose, at least for the time being. And the company, all said and done, responds back, which is +1 in their favour. In the absence of any other decent e-bicycle provider in India in a decent price range (Being Human similar bike is for 53k), I decided to go for LS and am hoping I will not regret it.

Good thing that the cycle is still working and no ...
I am using the cycle for approx. 20 km per day for commuting purpose ( to & fro office). I tend to use battery assist for major stretch while going towards office (helps me prevent sweating while in office), while I use battery assist only at steep slopes while returning from office. I have been using the cycle for more than a one month and the reviews are based on these.Pros:1) I have taken the cycle to a maximum 43kmph while coming down the bridges and steep slopes, Good thing that the cycle is still working and no issues. But the brakes are not capable of handling that high speed.2) Built quality of the cycle is generally good and electronic items have not created any issues so far.3) Handle bar is not that congested with wires and has a clean design (with no accessories).4) Seat is soft and there is no need for any extra seat covers.5) Chain quality looks good and it has not come off for me till now even after long distance cycling.6) Have used it in very strong rains (turned off assist since I was afraid if I will cause any short circuit) but with front lights on. Has not created any issues till now.Cons:1) I generally try to cycle above 30 km using assist help. The motor cuts off at 25 kmph but you can pedal to whatever speed you want. But you will feel generally pedalling on air when you are going above 30kmph. A gear system for high speeds is suggested if you take speeds above 30 kmph.2) The rear brake (power brakes) makes a lot of squeaking sounds when it comes in contact with alloy wheels and gets worn out very quickly. I have replaced the rear brakes with decathlon brakes, even that is making squeaking noises, that’s too loud and irritating. The orange colour paint in way of brake pads have faded, but still the squeaking persists.Other Comments:· Rear wheel was deformed while I got the order first via courier. I suppose that was due to transportation damages. I contacted them and they have immediately replaced the courier. They asked me to return the old wheel with motor, informed me that the courier charges will be transferred to me once they get the order, but I haven’t received the money even after repeatedly reminding them.· Front disc brakes has this constant squeaking (much less than rear brakes when applied). This is not going even after taking it to local cycle shops for checking. The disc brake is too thin to take bends easily.· The spokes of both wheels needs to be tightened since they were very loose when bought. Local cycle shops have charged around INR 500 for repairing the same.· The cycle doesn’t come with any accessories like bell. Etc. It will get clumsier once you start adding all these accessories on the handlebar. The standard handle bar extender will not fit since the handlebar is curved too much.· You can remove the speed limit set in the cycle easily from the LCD display (accessory not included in the original kit). But I noted that the power consumed is going higher than the rated 250 watts, hence I set the speed limit back to 25 kmph.Accessories bought till now:1) LCD display (From Lightspeed) with front lights.2) Cycle bell, mudguards (decathlon), rear brake pads3) Mobile holder (for navigation), electric bells (recommended when you are driving in city or in highway), brake lights and Indicator lights (useful when driving at night, cycle lock, minibag beneath seat.

Good Electic Bicycle
It is an amazing product from lightspeed to commute within range of 30 to 35 kms in one full charge having battery of 7.8Ah. They provide the bicycle with 90% assembled , only the seat, front wheel and padels are to be mounted and handle to be straightened and tightened with allen key which any one can do within home with the tools they provided within the set. Although it has some issues like chain frequently get loosen and spokes were loose when delivered but can be easily repaired by local cycle mechanic. Tyres they provied with bicycle are of very good quality, it his perfectly allright even after using regularly from september 2018. Electical parts are too good it not get short circuit even in heavy rain. I have installed a horn and led light with switch by adding a 36v to 12v converter and also a chain tensioner of a motorcycle to avoid frequent loosening of chain. One more plus point of this cycle is that its battery is removable to charge, not required a long cable to charge, just remove the battery using the key they provided with bicycle. To charge the battery connect with charger they provided in the set by pluging in any household three pin socket.

2 months of use
Ease of assembling, and almost nil maintenance is the best thing about this e cycle. Tyres can be inflated with a car tyre inflator. It’s very user friendly, and option of purchasing a battery is great deal. Brakes need to be more effective is what I felt, but one should remember it’s a cycle, not a bike.
