Cabaret was first produced in 1966, and the popular film version, shot much later was released in 1972. This Cd version, originally recorded in 1997 follows the original theatrical production. The Musical is set in pre- second World War Berlin. Based on the diaries of Christopher Isherwood, it tells the story of Cliff, a writer and his acquaintance with a Cabaret performer, Sally Bowles, played here by Toyah Wilcox. The Story is emphasized throughout by the eccentric and sometimes camp ""EmCee"" played superbly by Nigel Planer.

Cabaret minus the cabaret
Save your pennies and buy another version. This only has the songs sung by Toyah and Nigel Planer on it so all the other cast songs are just instrumental which is fairly pointless. Nuff said.

Hommage honorable !
Peu de différence avec la BO originale, mais si on aime Toyah cet album devient incontournable !N'oublions pas que Toyah a tous les talents d'une interprète comédienne chanteuse....Des reprises de qualité, niveau son, voix, instruments.Nigel planer est une découverte pour moi.
