When you want a cup of 'restaurant grade' coffee...
If you're a coffee drinker (and I'm not talking the 'foo foo' stuff), then you've had coffee brewed by one of these beasts, or one of its numerous cousins. If you've actually purchased one of these (and you're not a restaurant), then congratulations, you're now the King (or Queen) of your very own CUPPA JOE jungle. It's takes a bit of work to get it just how you want it. Start with the right coffee, use Bunn filters. You'll need to run several test brews to get to the right strength. Once you have that, WRITE IT DOWN.EDIT 9/12/2024: A few things I've seen in the comments:1 It does NOT come with a carafe. They're sold separately. Part of the 'commercial' thing about this coffee maker. This allows you to select your own.2 As-built, brewed coffee may be a little weak. You can offset this by purchasing and installing the Bunn Funnel Tip Kit. Unfortunately, to use the Funnel Tip Kit, you'll need...3 The Bunn Stainless Steel Basket. If you don't want any plastics anywhere in your brewing process, this is must-have.4 If you hear a lot of noise from the coffee maker (that stops when you lift the carafe), some coffee grounds have escaped the basket and are in the carafe. For some reason, this makes quite a bit of noise.5 To clean the pot to its like-new state, locate some dry dishwasher detergent (we use Truly Free Auto Dishwasher Soap -- it's all natural, no affiliation), put 3/4 scoop in the carafe, then run a brewing cycle with NO coffee or filter, just clean water. (Keep an eye on the carafe to make sure it doesn't overflow.) Let it sit with the coffee maker heater element ON for a couple of hours, scrubbing occasionally (we use the Chemex Coffeemaker Brush, no affiliation). Rinse thoroughly, and BEHOLD THE SHINY.6 Using the provided fill pitcher, you will NOT get a full pot when brewing. You'll be about 3/4 cup short. You can add about another 1/2 cup after brewing to top it up, but be careful, because too much and you'll have an overflowing carafe.EDIT 3/28/2025:Regarding item 4 above, this brewer can be noisy at times. Keeping the pot clean as described above helps. What also helps is taking a cotton dish towel, wetting it, and using it to wipe down the warming element where the pot sits. Be sure to fold the towel over a few times, otherwise you're liable to catch some HOT water vapor. Notice that I said 'cotton' dish towel. If you use a microfiber dish towel, being made of synthetic fabrics (i.e., plastic), it will melt and stick to the warming surface.

US made to last
After researching for a coffee maker that was all metal, no plastic, & made in the US, I found this to be the only coffee maker that ticked those boxes. It is made Springfield IL, & the quality is easy to see. It is built like a tank. It is on 24/7, so you get coffee within about 2 minutes. The only “on” switch is to activate the heat plate beneath the pot. Pouring water in tank causes it to run off into your carafe, so have your grounds basket in place before adding your water. What you need to purchase in addition to this coffee maker:Coffee carafeIt comes with a plastic grounds basket which can be replaced with the BUNN stainless steel grounds basket & you will then need the basket adopter too which is about $14. The quality of the grounds basket is very good. This coffee maker is made to last. I hesitated about the price but am so glad I made the purchase. I have purchased so many coffee makers that just don’t last beyond a couple of years, & then sadly end up in the land fill. I finally realized that buying quality was the more economical thing to do.The coffee is consistently excellent. You have to make 12 cups every time, so this may be a concern to some.

Best coffee ever ☕
I fill the container supplied a little more than half way . I also bought the adapter and metal coffee / filter holder . I found out that after adding the adapter you can rip a small piece of coffee filter and put it in the adapter hole we're coffee dispenses. This will give the coffee time to set and flavor as it pours to a slow drip . I have had some of the best coffee this way as I'm only brewingjust over a half a pot at a time . I also cut the warmer on right before brewing and shut it off shortly after seems to keep the coffee hot until it's all finished..Also if you go out of town or in vacation I would put this on a switch to shut off entirely as it cycles to stay heated .
