A quick ride on the mean streets...
If you want to grab me from the jump with your book, the best way to do that is with sex or violence. ‘The White House’ opens with both so you KNOW my nose was wide open! JaQuavis offers us a solo performance this time out and shorter one as well. What I didn’t know was that this short story is based on real life events. What we have is a sexy maid who sees an easy way to brick up her bank account. She works for a wealthy couple and she happens upon something one day she shouldn’t have seen. As typical with hood rats, her mind starts to work to plan a way to get that loot. Couple of problems here:1. Woman, did you pay attention to whom you were working for?2. Look at the job you have now, did you really think that someone with your brains and “talent” could pull this off?Judging by the way this story unfolds I would have to say that neither of those questions entered her mind. Now, I’m not mad at Draya for taking advantage of a situation, just at how she did it. I know I’ve seen people on TV who find a substantial amount of money and gave it back. Every time I see something that I wanna echo Dr. Dre on the ‘Chronic’ album and go “Brotha… is you crazy!?”It’s past time for this man to make a withdrawal from the bank of life. Draya thought the same thing and made moves to change that. Stupid moves (dumb as hell moves) mind you, but moves all the same.I also enjoyed the way JaQuavis told us just enough but didn’t give away who the second person was in the opening prologue. (You remember don’t you? That violent and sex fueled montage?) He drops hints throughout ‘The White House’ and one you think you have the right person… BAM… that person meets the Grim Reaper. And they do so usually missing a few gallons of blood and a limb or three. This wasn’t a crime who-done-it but rather a clever telling of a street short story. You’d think that hearing about another street story from JaQuavis would get monotonous. You’d be wrong. Oh there’s your usual brutal violence, revenge, sex, and backstabbing no doubt, but the magic is seeing how he blends that together inside of a story that doesn’t seem recycled. If you’re looking for a quick read that you could easily do in one sitting, give this one a shot.

I Loved It!
I just finished listening to the "The White House" by Author JaQuavis Coleman! Not only was this a good read, but i commend the author on selecting a narrator who had you hanging on every word in the book. i enjoyed this story so much that my only regret was that it ended. There were so many twists and turns until you did not know whose door karma was going to come knocking on. Deceit, trickery, and the double cross! all the makings of a good book! The author wasted no time jumping right in with a twist that I kept rewinding to listen to over and over again and that was in the first six minutes of the book. I was completely drawn in! I have this book in hardback, ebook and upon a suggestion from a friend audio book. This is by far the best narrator I've heard yet and boy did he do this story justice. I have been a reader and supporter of this author for many years and let me just say, I have not been disappointed yet! This is definitely a hot little story that i would highly recommend to others. Kudos to the author for writing such an enjoyable read!

Quick read, quick action...
If you are a fan of Jaquavis and Ashley then this book will surely satisfy. This story starts of with Draya, a young girl trying to make ends meet so she can send her younger brother, June, off to college in the fall. She gets not only herself but her brother and his "friend" involved in a robbery of her employers home. The aftermath of this decision is what changes the lives for all the individuals involved. The main theme of this book is Karma catching up to you, and lets just say she caught up with everybody. The main thing I like about this book is the fact that there will not be a part 2. Ashley and Jaquavis are KNOWN for pulling a plot thin until it is 4,5,and 6 parts. I like that this book is quick to the point, has enough action and sex for my liking, and it ends. No coming back. I think they should write like this more often. If you are looking for something quick to read then this is the book for you. It could have been a bit more detailed but seeing as though its a novella the parts fit together nicely. I give it four stars. Give it a read if you are a fan of the Ashley and Jaquavis brand.
