All I can say is that this movie really gets you involved with the characters. I found myself engaged, that rarely happens. Sam L. Jackson is an awesome actor; no matter what movie I buy, if he is the leading character, I am never disappointed. I've seen both the original and I really enjoyed this updated version because John Singleton has captured the tempo and continual racial problems in today's New York City...artistically, music is still the best (from original film) and the acting couldn't be better. Even if you're not old enough to have seen the original, this should be a must watch on anybody's list!

Great movie. I had been looking for it for so long, I had the second movie but wanted this one too. Plus it was at a great price. The movie played great, no problem. Packaging was great.

this film is really underrated some look at it as a remake, but considering sam is playing the nephew/son(we find out in the sequel he is actually the original shafts son) of the original john shaft, played by richard roundtree its more of an update/sequel. christian bale and jeffery wright were freaking fantastic in this, almost made me want a peeples hernandez movie.. all and all, very entertaining a great way to update blaxploitation films, keeping the flare of the 70s, without the cornball.
