The Aspiring Principal 50: Critical Questions for New and Future School Leaders

I highly recommend this book for all principals and everyone who has a desire to be a school principal. Being an effective principal requires commitment to bring out the best of an entire organization. One must have and maintain a personal WHY of going into this role -- deep, dark days will surface. If your WHY is not strong you may abandon your commitments and/or abandon your role. This book is a collection of 50 effective questions and answers to pack into your principal toolkit and if used will enable you to be more proactive and improve issue resolving skills. This will result in principals having more success as a principal.The question that I would like to highlight is Q: How will I maintain an attitude and vision of excellence for my school in the face of the endless challenges, obstacles, pressures, and demands associated with my leadership? This question reminds me of a statement a colleague and I would often recite throughout the day at one of my former positions in Orlando, Florida “No one rises to low expectations.” We both demonstrated, facilitated, and expected the best from everyone: students and adults. This book aides in setting and modeling high expectations. All principals who are committed to the profession should have a copy of this book as a reference tool.

All of his books are easy reads and worth motivating anyone!

This was an easy, but powerful read! Great book to prepare you for an interview

I liked that it was an easy read. I read it in Principal Kafele’s voice! Definitely a book that I will refer back to time and time again!

Quick read with good insight. The layout of my kindle book was a little funky, it started with chapter 5 so I had two of them.

This book helped me to gain employment as a new principal! The advice and information in this book is sound and proven. I follow the author on social media and his willingness to always help school principals is really endearing. His investment in Black School Leadership is also a beautiful thing to behold. His books and advice helped me to land both my assistant principal job and the one I have now. I suggest this read to ANYONE who wants to get that first job as a school administrator!

This is an amazing book for educators who aspire to become school leaders. Continue to study and practice and you will become a great school leader.

Brief and largely superficial comments that are self-promoting. Author leads us to believe he was a highly effective school leader but provides little more than cursory examples to support claims. I couldn't finish the book as it felt like shameless self-promotion.
