Very happy customer
I had one of these over 20 years ago when i was 18 and i broke it a few days after i got it because i didnt know how to light it and didnt read the instructions so i took it apart.... i seriously have wished i didnt for the past 20 years and finally found out what it was called and bought it a month ago... Wicked Awesome soldering iron for electronics. I use it daily building custom racing quadcopters along with my hobby microcontrolled led lighting effects. It runs about an hour on a fillup, i use it on the lowest setting and fine solder for through hole components. Heats up in like 15 seconds, it says 30, but its 15... i dont even touch my corded soldering station ive used for 20 years anymore. Takes a while to cool down and ive never put the top back on while it was still hot so i dont know what would happen, the top would probably get pretty warm I'd bet. Super happy and its worth the cost.

Works extremely well
It is hard to beat this brand when it comes to soldering irons I do a lot of soldering and have had just about every brand on the market, electric and butane powered, and this one is definitely in the top tier

Not Much Bigger than a Sharpie
Perfect and ultra-portable. Follow instructions and it is easy to ignite with a small portable lighter. I even bought a small hard case for mine to store away while not in use. Came in handy in small confined spaces where I needed to re-solder some terminations in a few Audio-Video Racks which is exactly why I purchased this item, limited workspace where I needed to be cordless and ultra-portable.Had this been self igniting... +5 *STARS, No Complaints here!

Best in the business
I have been using this model for 30 years. I wear them out about every 4 or 5 years, so I have bought quite a few. They never disappoint and work better than any other butane or electric unit I have tried, period. The one stipulation that is necessary to keep them working properly is do not use any other butane but the Master Appliance brand. Theirs is ultra filtered and it makes a difference in reliability. I know this because a used an over the counter brand and it didn't take long for the unit to start having problems.

Can't get any better then this
I have used master appliance ultra torch units for 15 years plus, I now have 5 of them between work and home. They last is all I can say, if you take care of them they will take care of you. I have tried many brands and have always ended up disappointed as I have found that no other manufacture can compare in quality. If you want a unit that heats up and stays hot, here it is and if you need more heat for larger wires simply install a larger tip and you can easly solder 14 gauge wire. I have soldered 12 guage wire with the large tip try that with a cheap corded soldering iron or other gas units on the market.Your going to spend some money but you buy it once and you don't have to keep replacing it nor do you have to carry some type of igniting source as you do most other gas units because this unit is self igniting.

I've had one of these for several years and it finally gave up the ghost. So this will be my second one. I use it primarily for my job as an avionics technician where it's smaller size and portability (no power cords) are extremely valuable. Its controls are easy to use and it's contollable for precise work. the different tips interchange easily. On the downside, it's not easy to tell when this torch is ignited nor how much fuel is in it. The handle is a bit fat as well, a more slender shape and an inch or two shorter would improve its' utility, however for a good general use torch/soldering iron for a reasonable cost, this one fits the bill.
