Super assassin John Wick is on the run after killing a member of the international assassin's guild, and with a $14 million price tag on his head he is the target of hit men and women everywhere. Review: John Wick 3 - **John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum** is an adrenaline-fueled roller coaster that takes the franchise's already high-octane action to new heights. Directed by Chad Stahelski, the film picks up immediately after the events of Chapter 2, with John Wick (Keanu Reeves) on the run after being declared excommunicado by the shadowy High Table. The film's greatest strength lies in its relentless pacing and breathtaking action sequences. From the opening scenes in New York City to the thrilling motorcycle chases and hand-to-hand combat, each set piece is meticulously choreographed and visually stunning. The fight scenes are a masterclass in stunt work, with Reeves delivering a physically demanding performance that cements his status as one of Hollywood's premier action stars. The world-building in Parabellum continues to expand the franchise's unique universe of assassins, secret societies, and elaborate codes of conduct. The introduction of new characters, such as Halle Berry's Sofia and the enigmatic adjudicator played by Asia Kate Dillon, adds depth to the story and hints at a larger mythology yet to be fully explored. One of the film's standout aspects is its commitment to practical effects and real stunts, which lend a visceral authenticity to the action. The cinematography by Dan Laustsen captures the frenetic energy of the fight scenes while also highlighting the film's stylish, neon-drenched aesthetic. While the plot can occasionally feel secondary to the action, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum succeeds in delivering exactly what fans of the series have come to expect: non-stop action, inventive choreography, and a compelling lead performance by Keanu Reeves. It's a must-see for action aficionados and a worthy continuation of the John Wick saga. Review: Fifth best in the franchise, but that’s still saying it’s amazing - This is my least favorite John Wick film, but it still gets five stars because it kicks! Bonus points for the dog scene, Halle Berry, the horse, and the motorcycle scene. Builds on the mythology and up the stakes, preparing for the action masterpiece that is John Wick 4

JW3 full of action and innovative fights, but falls into an unfortunate, episodic rut ...
The visuals are amazing, and the action is non-stop. They added a couple of new members of the ever growing assassins guild. There are some twists both in terms of new situations and weapons (antique pistols, knives, a book, a horse, ...). Some of your favorites get in on the action this time rather than just facilitate things. The story makes less sense. (I'm not looking for purity in an action/thriller/assassin movie, but this one stretches the bounds of suspension of disbelief in terms of motivations and emotional attachments.) There are a couple of ex machina moments too. All in all, a fun movie, but the series is starting to stale a bit now, and I have less anticipation for the John Wick "N" than I did for two and three. ** spoilers follow ** The whole movie is episodic. That is great and expected for a TV series, but for a movie that is not a good thing. I get that this is a series of cuts "in the life of", but that said in the past two movies there was growth, change, and the feeling that things were moving towards some type of ultimate resolution. In this movie, Winston betrays the high table, fights alongside with John Wick, and then Winston is fully restored at the end. Huh? Also, I do not understand John's motivation by the end of the movie. As far as I could make out, John let his emotions get the best of him at the end of 2. It was an understandable act of passion. The weird, anti-climatic scene at the end of this one with Larry Fishb. did not make any sense. Was Larry's character something different or greater than we knew? Who can tell? New characters and situations were tossed in like summer rain. John goes to the library and finds a book with a marker, a crucifix, a picture of his wife, ... that is the key to redemption in this movie. Huh? Where the heck did that come from? Why didn't he use it previously? How many of these other magical plot points are hiding out there? Does anything actually matter or change in this series? Overall, this movie is diverting and fun, but it was like eating cotton candy. It was sweet and a rush, then gone, and left me a little empty.

Pointless listing to show up in UK search results. It's a US import so does not work in the UK. Films a 10/10 though.
