8 years strong now
I bought this back in 2012. It's still in my freezer and I still regularly use it. It's wonderful! Works well, keeps frozen and cold for a LONG time. I'm very impressed with the quality and how sturdy this ice pack is. I've bought some cheaper off brand blue ice before and they didn't stay frozen or cold nearly as long as this one. I actually ended up throwing those away it was such a waste of money. You really do get what you pay for. This is a tad more expensive but since I've had it for 8 years now, it's actually super cheap if you really think about it. It's worth the price tag.Buy a super cheap one where it barely lasts a couple of years. Or a slightly more expensive one and it lasts damn near forever. Your choice. ;)

Perfect for lunch bags; colder than others
I bought this for my lunch bag and it has done a great job of keeping my food cold throughout the day. It even keeps my frozen food mostly frozen until lunchtime. It is far and away better than the gel ice packs I've used.Pros:+Keeps food cold longer than others that I've had.+ Hasn't leaked in the three months I have had it+ Fits nicely in the bottom of my lunch bagCons:-Size. It's pretty big and bigger than what I'd put in my kids' lunch bags-Cost. I think it's a good product for the price, but there are plenty that are cheaper. I also noticed that they increased the price a fair bit. I bought it in December 2012 for 4.19 and it's now 5.70

Does what it claims
Needed a smaller good quality ice block for taking in lunches. This does the job, fits well, and stays frozen for many hours. No problems with cracking or leakage. Nothing fancy, but does job well.

Rubbermaid BLUE ICE Block
My husband and I still consider the "Rubbermaid BLUE ICE Block" to be one of our better investments (as well as it's smaller cousin the "Rubbermaid BLUE ICE Mini Pak"). While the thick plastic, Blue Ice product line from Rubbermaid is not the most attractive, I believe it is the most functional reusable ice pack on the market. Before purchasing the Rubbermaid Blue Ice Block, we fell for the gimmicks of the soft plastic ice pack products, which did not keep cold, melted quickly, and leaked soon after purchasing. Garbage. The Rubbermaid Blue Ice Block, by comparison, is a wonderful size for coolers or larger lunch boxes (approx. 6.5" x 3.5" x 1.5"), and stays cool for a whole day of activities when inside an insulated container. There is no mess like filling your cooler up with a bunch of ice, and no extra purchase. We simply store our Rubbermaid ice packs in the freezer, so they are ready to use at a moments notice. The Blue Ice Block is also great for icing injuries; we just wrap them in a small towel, and they are good to go.Overall, the Rubbermaid BLUE ICE Block has come in handy for a multitude of uses, and has not broke or leaked after a year of regular use. Great product, great price. You'll be happy you made the purchase.

Two years strong so far
I've packed my lunch with one of these in a 5qt cooler 5 days/week for over 2 years now. (Purchased 4/2015) They are plenty cold to keep a bit of food safe and already-cold beverages drinkable, but they will not take a drink to near freezing temps like ice will. (Personally I've never used this for more than 6 12oz cans or a sandwich or two and a couple pieces of fruit.) They will, however, last longer than ice, and you only have condensation to deal with. It's little enough moisture that I'll stick 18650 batteries in my cooler to keep them from heat.Mine was in perfect shape until literally the day I got a new fridge/freezer. My original freezer was a drawer under the fridge with baskets, so your things don't touch the bottom or sides of the freezer. I'm no scientist but I figure that freezing faster/slower on one side is what has caused the bulge I have now. I'm surprised any plastic can withstand so many freezing and warming cycles though. I'll be buying another when this one finally cracks. In my opinion, this is a must-have if you pack your lunch for work, school, etc.

Larger than expected
These are a good product and would work well in coolers, but they are too big for daughers small lunch box/bag. The are thicker and heavier than I expected. I should have paid more attention to the specs.

It’s SO worth it to have several of these in your freezer during warm months!
I live where it’s very cold in winter, but “town” is a bit of a drive, and I just don’t take chances when it comes to keeping my fish, dairy, and frozen foods cold in warm weather. However, not just in summer: I’m writing this in late February, and, just this week, a friend and I made a shopping excursion that required an hour’s drive each way, plus we hit several stores in addition to one that sells food, so 6 hours from departure to return (we do live in the middle of nowhere). So I packed the cooler with several of these just to ensure that our fish and meat stayed chilled and our frozen food stayed frozen. One tip: although I keep these in my freezer at all times, when I’m planning to “go to town” or on an expedition such as this week’s, I stick my cooler right in front of my front door so that I remember “Oh, yes, gotta grab the freezer thingies and bring the cooler!”
