Definitely an upgrade from it 3rd gen
I had and it 3240 in my pc which is a 3.4g dual core. I don't do gaming but I do audio recording and mixing. Needed more power. This upgrade was night and day for performance! Now I can add all the plug ins needed to properly mix my music.

Honestly worried, idle temp jumps to 45+ C
Is windoze 10 and NOTHING is overclocked. Buss speed 100. Asus p8z68 and latest bios. 3603 Corsair cooler. Arctic ice paste. Core speed jumps to 3812 Only thing running is speccy. So at idle it jumps every couple of seconds or so . . . why so jumpy ? Techie for many, many years. New Note: Oem builders get to pay Microsoft $200 more/additional because the system got a better part. It does not matter that the old/dead/original part cannot be obtained . . .

Works Just Like New.
Replaced a Core I3-2100 dual core in an old system that is a backup to my current system. Much faster and paired with a 1060 3gb video card runs older games very well.

Worked then didnt
Just after 2 weeks of motherboard being installed it quit working. The PC no longer booted and no power to half of the motherboard. Intel failed on this one.
