Great version of Monopoly for young kids.
I bought this for my 4 year old. She LOVES it. The game is a very simplistic version of Monopoly. It's not the 4-8 hour cutthroat deathmatch you're used to from when you played with your friends/siblings. The first thing I noticed was that each set of properties was reduced to 2 instead of 3. Railroads and Utilities are out. Community Chest is gone and there is only Chance. With that said, the playing board is much smaller. Instead of dice, you get a spinning Minion that lands on the number of spaces you move. This means no addition between two die. There's also only one denomination of the currency, Banana Bucks. Houses and hotels are replaced by cupcakes and sundaes. When you own one property, it gets a cupcake. When you get the matching property, the cupcake is upgraded to a sundae and you get the higher rent value. All of this makes it super easy for a 4 year old to pick up. The only part of the game she can't do on her own is read the Chance cards (when we were done, she did make me read every Chance card to her). Every other aspect of the game was easy enough for her to grasp. This game is very well done. It's fun and educational. I could not be more pleased with how much my daughter liked this game. Older kids would probably think this is too simple/easy. However, considering how brutal standard Monopoly can get, perhaps everyone should stick to these simplified versions.

We love it so much the grandchildren put down the video games to play
We have a couple versions of the regular Monopoly, Ponyopoly, and now Despicable Me2 Monopoly. It is similar enough to the original that you will feel right at home with it and different enough with the spinner pit to be fresh and exciting. The pit is also great at keeping the spinner on the table instead of chasing die under the chairs. The grandchildren gladly put the video games away so that they can play this with the grownups :) This is now a family favorite right up there with Mexican Train. The pieces are small but no smaller than the original Monopoly tokens. We are going to buy the DM2 Pod game just so we can have more monopoly tokens. As far as I am concerned there are no negatives. It is much faster than reg Monopoly which is a plus when playing with really small children, we usually play at least two full games before anyone wants to move on to something else. Great way to get a 4 yr old at the same game table as a ?? year old Grandmother and Grandpa, and every age in between. Next on the list will be the DM Operation game. Grandma loves having games and books for some old school entertainment with the grown kids and grandkids.

Great Game
Great Game. Much quicker than Monopoly but still fun. 4 year old and 6 year old love the game. We did modify it and put the board on the table so you could use the spinner without bumping the game board. The boys even said, maybe we could just use a dice to make it easier! But fun game!

Great for young kids
My 5 and 7 year old really enjoy this game and played it 4 times within the first day. They were able to understand the rules very quickly. The game is complete luck and favors the youngest (they go first) so if you are looking for a strategy game this is not what you want. It is a fun game, with characters my kids like, that is easily learned and doesn't take too long to finish. They love the minion pieces and spinning "nom nom" to see how far they move each turn. Warning: there may be disputes about where "nom nom" lands. I recommend having a "ref" that settles disputes - just name them at the beginning of the game like you decided the banker. Anyone who argues with the ref gets a warning then gets sent to the jail space if the argument continues. This worked perfectly when I played with them and no one actually had to go to jail.

Fast playing and so, so cute.
We love this game! This version of Monopoly does not take all day or many, many hours to play. Do not get us wrong, we love to play the old Monopoly game all day and two or three times a week . On this Despicable Me edition, we did find it kind of hard to spin the top and don't move the game or all the pieces fall off. The playing pieces are small but cute. We do not think the Minion on the top of the spinner top will last long because he is small and rubber but we will tackle that when and if that happens. Oh, kids probably will like this game . We are adults playing this game. Small fingers would probably work better with the small pieces but have to be careful with the game board and pieces... Can't be rough with it.

Great game
The grandkids love this game. It's easy to play and doesn't take forever like the real monopoly game. The spinner isn't that great on it but we use dice, and the little minions are cute, tiny just like the real monopoly. It's fast paced for them and easy to use - even my 6 year old grand daughter can be the banker. Love it.

This game is fun, but not easy for a 5 year old ...
This game is fun, but not easy for a 5 year old to use. It is even hard for a 7 year old to use. The spinner is impossible for kids to use, as an adult I have a hard time with it. The clipped on track flops around a lot causing the minion game pieces to fall over. This is especially true with little kids who wiggle while playing. The minion game pieces also are not stable. they fall over and do stay put. Cute, novelty game but I will need to buy a new one that 5 year olds can use.

great game for kids, don't expect to be crushing opponents if you're an adult
This is a cute little game. It is similar to Monopoly Jr. My biggest complaint is the spinning minion for determining how many spaces to move. It just doesn't work well! You're better off using a regular die. It's a quick game for if you don't want a regular marathon of Monopoly.
