it's ok but...
I bought this RCA to HDMI converter to use with an VCR DVD combo player. It works for the price but some major draw backs.Draw backs1. poor color2. blue background when you have no video source3. Power source4. video switch not friendly5. Pixel video1. Color - If you are inspecting HD video quality from your DVDs or gaming system think again. The color stinks. The output of the DVD player has better color on the RCA jacks than the converted video. The blue screen that the unit puts out is very good than the source video.2. Blue background - Ya it is nice to know that the unit is turned and working. But the annoying thing is that I had to do a lot of trouble shooting. I could not figure out if it was the TV set putting that on the screen or if it was the converter. Also the DVD VCR combo puts out a blue video while its on VCR mode. I had to plug in my HD mini camera RCA to do the final test. I had to make some other adjustments to my setup to make it work. This would not have been so hard if the video out was black to where the TV says NO signal.3. Power source - No AC adapter to USB. I had to use my USB phone charger to power it on. If you want to use this converter with your entertainment system you must buy some power adapter. But if you wand yo use your laptop with your entertainment system than just plug it in to a port. BUT wait all new laptops have HDMI already built in. Even my desktop has HDMI out. This link will take you to to the power adapter that I have to make it work on AC Motorola USB Wall Charger with Micro USB Data Cable - Bulk Packaging (Black) 4. video switch not friendly - Do to the blue screen that the converter puts out and you have a HDMI video switch that sets the input by video signal. The converter continually runs so if you put the converter lets say input four (4) the switch will no longer switch between inputs 1,2,3. If you do buy it I suggest you plug it into the first input on your switch.5. Pixel video - In the past I have recorded movies off the network TV stations on the HD antenna. A lot of my family's favorite videos have pixels and very bad audio. So I have replaced my poor recordings with good quality DVDs This converter makes the DVDs video have pixels just like the TV movies didConclusion - I am not sure if I am going to keep it. I don't think I could watch my DVDs and video tapes in a lower quality for long. If it was temporary yes I could but I am installing it for Permanent use.

Would definitely reccommend. Works well, couple of thoughts though.....
Quick Opinion:-The product is worth it. It works well, is easy to use, and is small and portable. The only thing that really detracts from it is the one foot length of the micro USB to USB power cable. The product does output a 1080p signal, however never will you be able to achieve true 1080p from any product period but this product does an phenomenal job at clearing up the image and making it work on a HDMI device. At the price I bought it at ($20.60) it was well worth it. Especially now since its $16.16.More In Depth Review:I have been using the product so far for about two weeks. There are a few things I have noticed, as well as like a lot. I use it for my Wii to display on a 24'' Monitor with only HDMI ports on it.Pros:-Works like a charm-Simple to use-Does what it was designed to-Used for a Wii to plug into a computer monitor with only HDMI ports-Very compact and easy to take and go (if needed to)-Micro USB to USB power sourceThe best part about this product is it works and is unbelievably easy to use. You basically just match the colors for the AV side and plug in the HDMI cord into the other and then plug in the power and it works (just make sure you are on the right channel for the TV/Monitor/Display). I personally am using it for the Wii which has a USB port in the back of it which I use to power the device. The nice thing about a USB power cord is that you can hook it up to pretty much anywhere especially with most phone chargers coming with a USB power cord adapter standard with them.Cons:-Receives power anytime that the cable is plugged in-Cable is about a foot in lengthThe reason I listed that it receives power as long as it is plugged in is because it is such a small unit that I do not know if it will cause any damage or if it will burn out earlier. I have left it unplugged while not in use, however this may just me being to cautious. The casing also is a plastic and feels cheap-ish and somewhat study. The 720p-1080p slide pictured on the product also seems like it might be easy to break although I have not had any problems with it so far (2 weeks). The cable length is not much of an issue for me, however it could be for others.Final Comments:-I would recommend this product to anyone who needs an AV to HDMI converter-Cheap, easy to use, works fantastically, and simple-Only four stars because of cheap feeling casing and a short power cable

Does what it advertises, with one caveat.
First let me say this product works as described. You plug in the power cable, attach the composite RCA cable from your device, attach one end of the HDMI cable to the converter and the other to your TV/receiver and POW! Upscaled picture on your TV screen. This product would be great for an old DVD or VCR player. There is just one caveat; it outputs a 720p/1080p 16:9 image. You can select between 720p or 1080p, but it will always output in 16:9. That means if you want to hook up an old video game console (NES, SNES, Genesis, PSOne, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, etc.) it will stretch the 4:3 native image to 16:9. Most DVDs will be fine as they are natively widescreen. I, however purchased this primarily to connect my old consoles to the HDTV in my den, and it makes the games almost unplayable, since the image is stretched out.I gave this four stars because the device works, it works as advertised and does so quite simply. I just wish there was a bit more clarification with how it handles the signal. It was only $20, so I'm not too torn up about it. I just thought I'd leave a review so maybe anyone else looking in to this device for the same reasons I was will be aware of the drawback.

This only works for PAL signal.
The media could not be loaded. Basically got this for connecting AV consoles like PS2 and GameCube to HDMI monitor. It works fine for PAL signal and displays the signal properly. Unfortunately, that is not the case with NTSC. It keeps flickering, randomly turning off and on and shows bad colors on screen, making NTSC unplayable.

Audio does not work after few days.
I brought this converter to connect my cable setup box with a screen to use it both as a TV and computer monitor. Although it worked well initially, I found the following problems in a few days:1. The converter would reset causing the output on the screen to flicker every time other electronic appliances like lights and fans were used.2. After about four days of use, the audio failed to work correctly making the device unusable. The return period is over and I am now stuck with a defective product. I do not recommend buying this device.

Audio seems to be problematic
When I first received the product, the audio was not coming only video was working. Then I got it replaced and this time both were working fine. But after few weeks, the audio is not working again. I am not sure whether they have any warranty or not. I saw a 1 year warranty for similar product by other seller. The quality was OK when it was working.

Worthy product.
Initial delivery was a nonworking product. Immediately returned and replaced with another one.it is working fine, upscaling is doing on the ordinary RCA picture. We can feel the change, Your LED TV picture frequency should be 60hz. Now I am completing one year with this device for my samsung led TV without disturbing the device/connection-I am keeping 1080P as default. Worthy product for this amount. We can feel the difference in the picture quality. With direct RCA connection many local channels and marketing channels like naptol were very poor quality, now they too giving nice quality output with this device.Thanking Amazon for the responsible service and timely delivery.
