Amazon Brand - Solimo 10% Povidone Iodine Solution First Aid Antiseptic, 8 Fl Oz

Very good quality & value for money paid. I use it in a homemade hand sanitizer solution I keep in a spray bottle by the bathroom sink (1/3 white vinegar, 1/3 91% isopropyl alcohol & 1/3 distilled water with maybe 2-3 oz of iodine disinfectant added). I spray on my hands & rub them together then wash my hands as usual or just rinse them if I haven't been doing anything too dirty that I need to worry about. I started doing this bc I am treating all 4 cats for Coccidiosis Microbial Parasites that are hard to kill & can reinfect from feces in litter boxes or if stuck on cats' fur or off furniture, bedding or clothes that gets contaminated. Also I was treating a staph infection on my thigh so I have been very germ conscious regardless of the Covid-19 virus. Have been keeping toilet seat & sink & handles clean with bleach, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or other disinfectants. Also have to clean litter boxes with ammonia based disinfectants and/or quaternary ammonium used in animal shelters bc bleach, etc doesn't kill the Coccidiosis Microbes. Having the iodine in the hand sanitizer gives me more confidence that I am not spreading anything. Just have to be careful not to get on clothes or it stains them. Doesn't usually get on my towels bc I spray then wash it off.

Great for first aid or wound care. It stings a little but not too bad, much more mild than alcohol. Good for disinfection but also helps wounds heal a bit faster by providing iodine as a nutrient. You don't want to get this in your eyes, you might go blind. And it will turn your skin orange temporarily until it gets absorbed. Also DO NOT use it for cleaning or disinfecting surfaces like doorknobs or counter-tops because it has a habit of causing discolorations on whatever it touches. The Solimo (Amazon/generic) brand is pretty cheap compared to the brand names, but seems to be just as effective. I have an ongoing health condition with open sores and I prefer to use this rather than alcohol or peroxide for that. But again, not for disinfecting hard surfaces! Only for topical SKIN use.

It works well on wounds and have a good bit in the bottle.

This is the second time I've ordered Amazon's brand of iodine for use on us and our farm critters. It seemingly is as effective as the name brand Betadine with less cost and far more convenient in this covid age to find in stock without hunting all over town to buy 4 bottles at once since we're a farm and I keep a bottle available in each bathroom and in the barn too. Will definitely buy again!

I just have to say that this is the best value for iodine I've found in a very long time. I just got out of having toe surgery for hammertoe, and the doctor told me to soak my foot in water with a tablespoon of iodine now that I'm a few weeks past the surgery. So I bought this particular iodine solution based on the price and the fact it was an Amazon Solimo brand. And it is just as great as what they sell at the local retailer for over $10. I'm absolutely THRILLED with my purchase, the quality, and fast shipping, and would recommend this iodine to others.

Neosporin is great but sometimes a good old fasioned product such as iodine is the best and old reliable for cuts and abrasions. I like to keep this on hand to vary. Also works when my freshwater tropical fish gets injured, too. HIghly recommend. Easy to use. Good old fashioned and reliable 1st aid. Highly recommend.

It’s become more difficult to find Povidone Iodine Solution, but these small bottles are perfect to carry for horse first aid. This strength is what I’ve always used to dip a newborn foal’s umbilicous, each bottle contains plenty to do that job. So, one for my saddlebag, one for my equine first aid kit at home, another for my traveling kit, and the 4th for my foaling kit — My needs for this product are now well taken of!
