I buy a lot of these books for children in a foster care program here. They’re a great hit for all ages. And the seller — called More Than Words — uses their proceeds to support foster children. So of course delighted to buy from them!Book arrived in perfect shape and for a fair price too.

As a contributor to this book (unpaid) I was rewarded by the authors with an autographed copy. Upon opening it I was delighted with what could only be described as a "What would I do?" guide for potential Walter Mittys.How to take a headpunch, how to wrestle an alligator/shark, how to avoid gunfire, how to escape quicksand, how to land a plane, how to jump out of a moving car, how to get onto a moving freight train and how to survive a sinking automobile (my contribution) are but a few of the entertainingly written and illustrated topics.What guy, sitting in a darkened theater watching Arnold, Sly or John Wayne for that matter, hasn't wondered "How would I get out of (or survive) that situation?" This book answers them all!I purchased several copies for male friends and family members who I know all secretly want to go on a search and destroy mission with Chuck Norris or dig for buried treasure with Indiana Jones.

Fire starting maybe critical to survival, attention to fire safety needs more attention. Do you have a safe place to start and maintain a fire and a way to put it out? Extinguishing a fire may be more important than starting it.

This book is great for kids because it has lots of fun pictures to go with the topics, and it's also great for adults because it has lots of fun pictures to go with the topics. Hehe!If you've ever wanted to know the best way to escape quick sand, you'll finally know after reading this book. It's comical at times, frank at others, and all around light reading.I gave a couple copies away at Christmas this year (to the boys in my family) and EVERYONE was pawing at it before the nights end, wanting to learn the most efficient ways to survive this thing called life... when you happen to be stuck out on your own in the African bush or somewhere similar. ;)Really - a fun gift for someone you may not know too well, and a great gift for the youthful bunch in your own family. I recommend!

Ok, the fact that someone has written a book about survining extreme situations is very cool. It answers some of those 'can you really do that?' or 'what would someone really do if they are in that situation?'.It is nicely sectioned, and explains the simple and basic steps that need to be taken to give you a general idea on what to do. Some of them i can see being very useful. Others not so much. But it is always good information to know. One thing to remember is that improvising is important. I believe that books like this are nice to give you general guidance, the rest is up to you.Nice variety of topics. The topices are wide ranged, some to the point of comedy.However, a word of caution; do not read this book thinking that you are going to come out of those situations with out a scratch (I had to explain this to my son). The book should have added the potential risks of some of the situations; such as breaking several bones while rolling out of the car, yes u might survive, but its gonna hurt.All in all an interesting quick read. Enjoy!

The fact that you are breathing/living while reading this review without yet purchasing this book is miracle. Do you realize the risk you take of going another day without being able to overcome any and every worse-case scenario that life will throw at you? Is that a risk worth taking? Of course it's not. Don't be like the guy who tried to escape killer bees without the knowledge contained in this book. His face ended up puffier than the Stay Put Marshmallow Man!

I love it when I can find something for everyone, this book was the gift for all of the guys on my Christmas list one year well over a decade ago and everyone loved it! In fact, my brothers, uncles, and coursins quote it all the time and it's such a fun reference that when someone becomes 'part of the group' or 'part of the family' or 'of age' they receive a copy as a Christmas gift, it has become a very funny, tongue-in-cheek right of passage. All the guys consider themselves part of a club based on their copy :)

I must say - I got a big kick out of this book. While I don't question its credibility (the authors name all of their sources (experts in their respective fields) in the back of the book) I had a hard time not laughing at some of the instructions. Even if I never use any of the instructions in the book, it will be worth the money I paid for the laughs I got.It is also very interesting. A lot of the situations are those one would expect to find in your typical action movie. To compare how this book says to execute a maneuver and how they are executed on TV or in a movie is interesting.If you're an outdoorsman, a computer scientist, a homemaker, or a person who knows how to read and has a sense of humor, I would recommend this book as something to at least skim over sometime.
