Reminds me of an old saying about being aware of the demons you bring into your life the ones you build a family with - or something like that I’m paraphrasing. There’s something to be said for their honesty as husband & wife. To understand how he internalized things that she would do & say. Genevieve was scared. Too many demons for one child to bare, but I’m happy that they came to an understanding if not a conclusion

There's elements of mystery, secrecy, suspense, and deceit all that offer a good read. The best part of this book was the cliffhanger at the end of the book! Never in a million years was I thinking or expected that! I was totally surprised with that. EJD has really out done himself with this one! Very good read, I'd recommend.

Page turning! Awesome! Think it took me less than 24 hours to finish it!Always fulfilled after reading an EJD's book! So far, never let me down yet! Hope not to be let down by any of the 89 remaining books!

I've read alot of EJD books, and he is one of my favorite authors, but this book was a bit dull at times. I started reading this book last year and got about 1/4 way, i finally picked it up about 2 days ago and finished. Usually when i read his books i can't put them down,because i'm so eager to see what happens. This book shows some of the difficulties that alot of marriages go through. Its filled with lies, desires and betrayal, things that we have to deal with in our personal lives but this book took it to another level. This book shows the power of our past and the limits we would go to forget the things we used to be. But growing is accepting that we've made mistakes and pretending doesn't make our problem go away.I gave it 4 stars because the end was soooooooo very unexpected. Otherwise i would give it a 3.

This book started out with a "bang"...pardon the pun...LOL. The sex scene in the beginning of the book made me sweat :>). As I raced through the pages, I was not disappointed. Even though the narrator was an unnamed man dealing with his own demons like infidelity, sexual abuse and other personal traumas, you couldn't help but love and feel for him. He was as real as it gets.Mr. Dickey continues to amaze me with his gift of writing from a female perspective. His experiences (I'm assuming) and research flow seamlessly into another great literary work of art. This book has everything: hot sex, love, family drama, intrigue and intellect. By the way, I was completely blindsided by the little "bomb" he dropped towards the end of the book. Way to go, EJD, don't ever stop doing your thing!

This book is AMAZING!!! So many twist and turns and a surprise ending that I did not foresee!!! Eric Jerome Dickey is an AMAZING writer and story teller♥️♥️♥️

excellent book came fast great read

The first chapter made me want to continue reading; it had my attention and kept me longing for more action. What I got was much better; things were not as they seemed. Genevieve keeps her present and past life separated until the death of a family member. Her husband wants to shatter "the glass wall" that seperates them, but Genevieve is afraid that if he really knew her that he would look at her as a stranger. This story is a great example of how a person's past (actions) are not who they are but assisted in making them the way that they are.

彼の本は、読めば読むほど文章や発展の仕方の上手さに驚かされる。今回の本は、妻を冷静に見る夫の立場から書いたもので、彼の作品にしてはちょっと珍しい展開だった。夫婦愛についても勿論考えさせられたが、まだ現実に残る、古きアメリカ南部の人種差別、それに纏わる人間関係、親子関係と、アメリカ社会の産物を人作品にして全て語っている。驚きの展開と、誰にでも起しえるトラブル。人間の気持ちを各自の立場から見事に描いている。私はThe other womanが彼の本の中では傑作だと思っていたが、この本はそれと同じかそれ以上の素晴らしい出来だと思う。早く次ぎの作品が出てくれる事を期待している。
