Decent but...
My rating might be a little harsh but I felt 4 was just a little too much and here’s why. When the shoes arrived, they looked very good, and in some respects, 6 months later, they still do albeit with a few marks on them. The issue is the leather is now much looser than before and they have begun to feel bigger and less supportive. They’ve lost their shape quite a bit as well. The other issue is the sole. It is very slippy on wet surfaces especially wooden decking. I’ve also nearly come a cropper a few times when slipping on a small, round, ground light embedded into our concrete patio. It’s only small but when wet, these shoes turn it into ice.The soles also tend to make your feet turn at an angle when walking. It’s a subtle angle but noticeable.I got these at a good discount so am happy with them for what they ultimately cost me but doubt I’d buy them again at full price.

Can I have a black pair too please!? Love 'em!
**Quick update - had these boots for just over a month now.. I waterproofed them when I first got them, and have worn them all day, every single day since. And I still love them! And I still want a pair in black!**I was lucky enough to see these advertised by Amazon as a deal of the day, and ended up getting a £100 pair of good quality suede Caterpillars for £26.68, and I'm glad I did. They arrived quickly and well packaged, and on trying them on, I found them instantly comfortable. I've owned several pairs of Cats over the past 20+ years, and in the good old days always found them high quality, hard wearing and of awesome longevity. In fact, I wore one particular pair of Colorados for 18 years. I don't mean I wore them occasionally, I mean I really, really wore them. I went to many far flung places, I waded through rivers in them (I dropped them in the Amazon River and had to fish them out), hiked through rainforests in Borneo, I trekked and climbed Macchu Pichu in them (three times), and I carelessly baked them in the Attacama. And they not only survived, with a little aftercare they looked awesome. So you could say I was quite a fan! However, the last pair I ordered quite recently really fell short. They were too narrow, the leather seemed stiff and cheaper, and the stitching and finishing just wasn't up to scratch. They also seemed to point my toes inwards, and I sent them right back. I was seriously disappointed. It put me off big time, I'll admit.I'd liked the look of the Prepense boots for a while, but I now lacked confidence in the brand. But £26.68? Yup. That tempted me!With free return shipping, I took the chance. And, I'm happy to say the chance paid off, and I love them.I got them in Summer Brown, and they're a really lovely colour, especially for Autumn. No, they won't last 20 years. But that's fine. They're not built to climb rocks, cross rivers, trek and hike all day in, blah blah blah. They're meant to walk country lanes, kick through leaves, go for picnics in the park, walk the dog, visit your nan, pop to the pub (social distancing, naturally). They ARE quite a narrow fit (well mine are, anyway), so if you're broad footed you might need to bear that in mind. Some reviewers have said they're slippy too, but I haven't yet tested them out in wet conditions, so I can't comment on that yet. Once it's wet out again though, I'll give them a try and update my review accordingly. They're vrry grippy in the dry though, and being suede I'm not planning on wearing them when it's pouring down anyway. I'll be giving them a quick waterproofing to make them showerproof though, just to protect them.Overall, I really like these boots. I'm not sure I'd have paid £100 for them, but for what I paid, I'm over the moon. I just need to break them in and get them really comfy and fitting well. And I must admit, I 'd really love a pair in black now!

Had to use a gel insole
I have quite narrow feet so always expect to need to pack out a shoe or boot with a full length sports gel insole. This boot was no different. It fits in length and any smaller in length would see my toes hitting the top when I bend the foot to crouch down. Usually resulting in pain and discomfort. So a smaller size is not always the solution when the shoe or boot is loose. With the insole in it is still a bit loose and so does still feel like it should be a smaller size. However my toes are almost touching the tops. My advise is that if you have a narrow feet problem, that you get insoles to pack the width and depth out with. Making out that you boot is smaller or that your foot is bigger than they are. This boot looks great with my black boot cut jeans. Not tried them with my skinny jeans. I may stick to only wearing these with bootcut. I did notice that although they have great grips, when I came in from out in the rain the inside communal area floor was quite slippery in them. More so than my trainers! The floor is tiles but they are only mopped and never polished. Never even buffed either, so I was a bit surprised. That said, when out in the rain they were better at grip on the different surfaces and drains etc than my trainers. The water stayed outside of the boot too. These do not look big and clumpy although the runner sole at the back of the heal does look a bit chunky. That may prove to be a good thing as that seems to be the first part to wear down for me. I think they look quite casual smart.

Steer AWAY unless you like blisters!
I have had this for two-three days,Pros:Very smooth leatherVery lightStylishCons:No grip on wet tarmac. The sewing (thread) on the sides of the boots is really irritating, I thought this will go away in 1-2 days I thought to myself c'mon this is Cat footwear and it must be very nice and that I am wrong. So I bought the boots and now I really regret it.I am walking like a robot now, I don't think that I have wide feet but the sewing on the side is very protruding that I put on moleskin and thick socks just to ease the pain.STEER AWAY!
