Another 50 Shades
Sadly, this is another Fifty Shades of Grey, just on the East Coast rather than the West Coast. If you haven't read the other book, this one might be okay. Unfortunately, there were too many similarities that I just kept comparing the two books. The main characters didn't have any depth, so I got bored with them, too. (Minor character Sid is really the only character I liked.)**SPOILERS**This is essentially the book with similarities between 50 Shades:1. Billionaire control-freak (Blake) and "normal girl" just graduated from college (Erica) meet, attracted at first sight.2. Billionaire has a brother and sister, and the brother dates Erica's best friend.3. Billionaire is invested in ex-girlfriend's (Sophia) business.4. Erica goes to different city, Blake follows.5. Billionaire is able to find out info and control Erica (except rather than having people do things for him, he's the hacker).6. Antagonist who is jealous of Blake's status and who Erica works with.7. Everyone seems to be attracted to Erica, Blake comes in to save her from unwanted attention. The author tries to make the reader feel pity for Erica, but I just get bored with her. Poor girl lost her mother to cancer at age 12, stepfather sends her to boarding school. She gets raped in college, but is able to move on and start her own business. Really, the only noticeable difference is at the very end of the book, with Erica's newly-found biological father and stepbrother.

I just can't
I don't get the high reviews. I was so bored with this story and kept waiting for something to happen. What about these two people's interactions define a relationship? All they did was have sex. Other than that, they had no connection. "Love" was mentioned so early in this book that I actually laughed out loud. Even the notion that you could love someone you've seen like twice is hilarious. But what bothers me more is the heroine. What is she? Is she a strong, independent, ivy-educated, business woman or an insecure, petulant, hormonal doormat? You really can't be both and, despite her words, her actions lead more toward the latter. She was completely underprepared for her initial pitch meeting (the author owes an apology to Harvard for suggesting someone would come out less prepared for business than they would getting a certificate from a community college). She has a horrible elevator speech (I'm not sure if SHE really knows what the dang app does). She also is completely led by her libido. Um, most of us women go to work everyday with attractive people and manage to conduct business without our lady-bits clinching up or our vocal cords spazzing out. Most disturbing is, as a rape survivor myself (and a rape counselor), I cannot rationalize that a rape victim would, could, or SHOULD, be in a relationship with someone who completely ignores every one of her explicitly communicated desires in favor of his own. Matter of fact, no one should...

Dull
Utterly disappointing. The female character started off interesting and somewhat 'normal' for this type of novel, but then she just kept changing her personality-which is something i Hate in a story. She waited at least 21 years to suddenly search for her biological dad and he just happens to be found in less than a day and semi well known in Boston (rolling my eyes). And as soon as i saw she was doing this knew what his connection (at least one) would be-maybe there will be more in the 4 other novels, but i will never know because i will not waste my money. In addition, I felt like this was three books squished into 1. A love book centered on hackers, on S/M, and your Boss (with a little fashion thrown in which considering it is the main characters business should be more important). The sex scenes are like rewinding/rereading the same scene.

It's alright if you want another version of 50
There are so many similarities between this book and 50 Shades. Girl meets billionaire. Billionaire wants to control the girl. The girl is worried they're moving too fast, but everything the billionaire does that angers her is made 100% better with sex. Not a lot of twists and turns. Every thing is expected, but I feel at least this book was slightly written better than 50 Shades. Can anyone tell me why the lead female character is suddenly so attractive and everyone is fighting over her to see who can bang her besides the lead male character? It's so dumb 😒

Typical mills and boons style romance with some 50 shades of grey
SPOILER ALERT:Needless to say, I was quite disappointed with this book considering all the raves from other readers on here. I expected so much more authenticity but alas it wasn't to be. The search for a more authentic and imaginative romance story continues...My main contention with this novel was the way it presented certain acts in the relationship between Blake and Erica as being acceptable or even endearing. Many of the actions carried out by Blake would have sent any woman would half a brain cell running for the hills but Erica whom the writer would have us believe is independent and strong willed seems to fall into the submissive role as a default throughout this novel.A few examples for illustration:Within a week of meeting Erica who is flat hunting, Blake manages to orchestrate a plan to get Erica to sign a one year lease on a flat in a building complex which he owns and lives in (unknown to her). He even has a key to the flat which he uses to let himself in at will. Erica is momentary annoyed until he sets her libido going.Erica needs funding for her business and finds an investor willing to do so. Blake wants to be the investor so offers to give her the funding which she rejects explaining to him how important the business is to her and how she didn't want to complicate their relationship by mixing business and pleasure. She is adamant and as readers we see her legitimate reasons. Blake ignores her and ruins the deal she has with the investor and promises to ensure that she won't get any funding from any other investor in the city, leaving her no choice but to make him the investor. You guessed it, Erica is annoyed until he gets libido going. She goes for a business lunch with a prospective male client which Blakes wants to come along to, she refuses saying she wants to do it alone - its her business after all. Unbeknown to her, Blake follows her to the meeting anyway and pops out of nowhere right at the moment when the business client makes a pass at her. Erica isn't annoyed, she's more scared because he is so angry with jealousy, plus he then sets her libido going. So you see, I couldn't enjoy this novel because quite frankly I had no respect at all for the characters in this book. Blake was domineering and stalkerish and Erica was this sex starved vixen who lost control of her life and became a shell of a real woman.

Hardwired is downright bloody brilliant!....
....I love this series 😊I originally read this book and the others from this series several years ago and recently went back for a re-read and I can honestly say it's better than I remembered!Erica and Blake have a connection that some characters try for but just don't achieve it - they do! Erica's fierce, that girl has had it tough, she lost her mum very young, she had a horrible time at college, I'll let you discover the rest! But she has fought through it all. She has worked her backside off to graduate and to get her business running properly, definitely a force to be reckoned with! But my word, does that girl need a hug!! And in steps Blake...dark, mysterious, smart, sexy as all out, passionate and a smirk that sends you weak at the needs - but as with nearly all main men..he's got secrets but man, is he worth it!!All in all, if your looking for a story that has a believable connection with the main characters, side characters that are as interesting as the main ones, secrets that you can't wait to uncover, and a buzz that will keep you gripped then this is the book!

Hardwired
Fans of Beth Kery stop reading this right now and go and buy this book. You will not regret it. I’ve not long finished Beth’s novel Glimmer and this book is similar in storyline, main characters and sexiness!Erica is the narrator throughout this great book and I found reading her story to be a complete page turner. I read it in one day, totally devouring the story. Erica is the owner of a start-up website and is trying to win the investment her company needs when she meets Blake.Wow, wow, wow! I really enjoyed this book, starting with Erica. I felt a little inferior to Erica in the beginning because she is incredibly clever and she is dead set on making her company successful and achieving her dreams. As she started to crumble a little under Blake’s attention I realised that underneath the superior business woman is a normal girl with normal feelings. As well as this intense desire for success, Erica has a past coloured with sadness and pain. I read the story feeling like Blake was her answer to finally getting a break in life, and not just in terms of her company.Blake is beautiful. It’s that simple. I rotated Blake’s dream cast between Tom Hardy and Chris Pine from when they both starred in This Means War, with a little bit of Superman thrown in to geek it up a little. He seemed very swoon worthy with his secret little smiles and sexy arrogance. I loved that Erica fought him on it (in the beginning) trying to maintain some level of dignity but to be honest I’m not surprised that she finally succumbed to the mutual attraction.Erica’s brutal past haunts her relationship with Blake and as she manages to shed a little light on some things she’s always wondered for herself she unwittingly opens a can of worms. Erica’s not the only one with a past and Blake’s pains him just as much although he is a lot better at hiding it, until it starts to affect Erica’s present.I was a little sad to only have the story from Erica’s POV because I can’t help thinking just how hot it would be to see the story through Blake’s eyes. He’s pretty closed off to Erica about his past and it feels like he doesn’t want her to become embroiled in it and as such it’s harder to get to know him, other than knowing that he is insanely attractive, insatiable and very, very generous in all aspects of his relationship with Erica. After finishing this I downloaded the 2nd, 3rd and 4th books in the series and started Hardpressed right away. I am more than glad that I didn’t have to wait for the second in the series. I have high hopes for the series and I’m looking forward to the story of Erica’s business and her relationships unfolding.

Ok
I was excited to read this as it was suppose to be the next best read after 50 shades. I thought it was quite predictable actually although it had some good storylines to it. For example I'll be interested to find out who the hackers are although I have my suspicions. I will read the next in the series, it was an easy book to read but it wasnt very graphic in terms of submissives which I thought it would be. It was a romantic story about 2 people with trust issues which I'm sure both will overcome.

Plenty of surprises in it.
This is a well thought out story about business with all its mysteries with romance in it. I found that i couldn't put it down for long before I was back reading it. A lot of surprises are in store for you as well in the story, what you wouldn't expect. I have given this five stars as I enjoyed it so much. Will be getting the other books in the future.
