Be reminded everything is measured in grams rather then cups and conversions do not mean accuracy. I bought a gram weight Scale. Allalso different flours then are used in america. I use gluten free flours, so get a different pastry outcome, however the fillings can be used. I specifically wanted the hot water pastry and fillings. I was still happy with my game pies but wow....super rich using both butter and lard in the pastry. I bought masterclass game pie molds. They came out impressive. I made too thick even tho it didnt seem like it but it totally held up taking out of mold!I didn't know puds were puddings and not too interested In those.It is fun baking differently then american way. GREAT photos on each step. Worth having. And i love Mr. Hollywood. 😁

Well organized book, easy to find recipes full of temptation.
The book just got here today and I went from front to back with post it notes planning what to bake. I will be as big as a house before I get to the end. I have ordered Treacle and Almond flour and fine ground Semolina and Dariole Molds and Golden Syrup and "strong" flour, etc. Life is good and getting better.

Enjoy the true English baking!
Paul's cook book is good to have on hand for meat pies and delicious desserts! Book came all the way from England! Best part is the measurements and heat temperatures are translated to American standards in the back pages. This one is for my library!

Challenging British Recipes
This is very British cookbook and about equally divided between savory pies and sweet pies and pudding. All the measures are metric, including ingredients and pan sizes. You need a scale and a conversion table for oven temperatures. You can find any unfamiliar ingredient for sale on the internet. This is definitely not for the novice baker.

it's easy to do
I bought this book because of the photos of how to make the different pastries - invaluable as now I can see where I went wrong before. I have a scale that weighs in grams so it's not a big deal as I don't have to convert to US volume measurements. Getting Lard can be an issue, the cheap stuff is hydrogenated, so I went to Whole Foods and got the real thing. You can also make lard yourself, it's easy to do. Pastry is soooo much better made with lard and butter.

Great instruction. I like it because the author show how to make it by hand instead of using the machine.He explain clearly how to feel and picture to show when the mixing is right by feeling and sight. This truly provide the knowledgeof baking. Now I realize one can still bake without a machine. It is not hard and does not take a lot of time while enjoying the process.One of the best cook book I have.

Well Presented and Easy to Follow
The recipes are very well presented and accompanied by photo illustrations of key techniques. As an American who occasionally resides in Britain each year, I have come to appreciate truly authentic British dishes. Paul’s book has enabled me to easily recreate many of these classic sweet and savory favorites through easy step-by-step instructions. He has some videos on YouTube that you might also want to check out too.

will be one of the best investments ever
Buy this cookbook, will be one of the best investments ever...appreciate having a gentleman like this showing me in detail the art[s] of baking. God bless him, wish we were fortunate to have his cooking show[s] available to American audiences....more the pity. His text delivery along with how-to photos make his recipe prep simple. This and all of his cookbooks are well worth purchasing. Thank you Paul!

Paul's books are by far the best baking books, and this one is no different
The huge difference between a Paul Hollywood baking book and the vast majority of the others, is the fact that he fills in the gaps that others just leave out. He tells you what to watch for, how things might go wrong, sprinkling each recipe with little tricks to ensure that things just work out better. Couple that with the fact that his recipes nearly always include a simple list of ingredients and taste FANTASTIC, you just can't go wrong. My kids (9 and 11) have tried about 30 different Paul Hollywood recipes, and every one of them has been a triumph. So, if my inexperienced kids can turn out truly fabulous bakes, then I'm sure pretty much anyone can. This book is a must-have, and if you watch the episodes of P&P on telly, then you get so much more insight into the food you're eating. Brilliant!

Pies and Puds by Paul Hollywood
Bought as a gift. The Book was in wonderful condition, and arrived within a couple of days of ordering. The recipient sat for ages planning which recipe to try First. The pictures were clear, as were the instructions and advice for a novice cook. Lovely book.

Love baking, and the recipes in this book would seem difficult just going by names and pictures but it's so easy to follow. I'm quite the beginner but have had no trouble keeping up with these recipes.

Full of lovely recipes.
I have already tried making the corned beef and potato plate pie and it was delicious - I will be trying another recipe this weekend. His tips on pastry making are really clear and easy to follow. I can see that I will be revisiting this book frequently!

What a fabulous book
I have been home baking for at least 45 years and have over 70 cookery books on my shelves. Sometimes cookery books can be disappointing but not this one. I have leafed through it several times and can't wait to try out some of the recipes. Paul has made this book easy to use for both the experienced and the beginner cook. Wonderful step by step illustrations and good down to earth recipes. The ingredients are mainly store cupboard items and the others are easily sourced in the supermarket. No need for lots of dishes and utensils either. This book will definitely not sit on the bookshelf unused.
