Q: Is the shell glow in the dark like other models?

A8x shell is transparent and does not glow, because the main role of the 365nm UV is to check money rather than fluorescent charging. Thank you.

Q: Can this be used while charging? So you could plug in a power bank and extend the run time?

Yes, while charging, only the moonlight and low modes are available. Thank you.

Q: Nowhere does it state the battery life at a full charge at the highest level before it starts to dim, must be really bad.

That's not a question. More of a complaint. The battery is 330mA, which is long enough for short tasks, but it's not enough to help you navigate a trail for more than a half hour on High-Beam, for example. I wear mine 24/7 ;even to sleep and - if I forget - in the shower too. I have no complaints about the battery life, nor the brightness (it's BRIGHT!). Assuming you charge it now and then, it lasts plenty long enough to get you to another source of light, or to sort out your needs. It's not a limitless nightlight, if that's what you need. You will need something bigger than a AA cell for that task. This is a short duration, high-intensity, microflashlight, with a few potentially useful gimmicks to help some people justify the price. I think it's very good, actually. I'm very happy with it.
