Great gift for an elementary classroom or a grandchild
All of us can relate to hearing a snowy forecast and wondering if school would be cancelled. Read how this goat played a crucial role in keeping North Carolina students safe during winter weather. The illustrations are fabulous and bring the words to life. This book makes for a great bedtime story, a public library read-aloud, or gift to an elementary classroom. It can be easily be used for instructional purposes around animal instincts. The actual press coverage from the era is included in the back of the book.Highly recommended!

My daughter’s favorite book!
This is my daughter’s favorite book. She took it in for show and tell. We have goats here on our farm and my kids all love this true story! It was very relatable after the winter we’ve had!

cute story
I ordered this book because it's a local story. It's very cute, with great pictures. I'm sure my granddaughter will love it.

but the rehashing of the story at the end by the author was much better than the story itself
It was a cute little book, but the rehashing of the story at the end by the author was much better than the story itself. Also, Lulu was a Saanen not a Nubian.

You will love this true story!
Lulu is a marvel. I have heard superintendents describe all kinds of processes to decide whether to close school due to weather. This is such a careful decision for each of them as they want students and employees to be safe!!But what an inventive and accurate way to make the decision. A wise goat Lulu who has animal instincts that forecast correctly 100% of the time. This is a wonderful true story for children to know about and enjoy. It is well written and has fantastic pictures. It helps build respect and admiration for all creatures.Dr. Sinclair has also added two thoughtful features at the end of the story:The True Story of Lulu the Snow Goat which describes for the adult additional information that will help enlarge the events surrounding Lulu's forecasts and also a section on The Study of Animal Instincts with actual pictures of Lulu!!This is the first time I have ever seen this support at the end of a children's story and thought it was fantastic. What a great book! I highly recommend Lulu the Snow Goat!

Lulu Passes the Kid Test!
I have always said that the true test of a children's book is whether or not children like it! Joe's story about Lulu has passed this test with flying colors! On a recent trip, my six-year-old grandson and I passed the time reading books (he loves books!). One of the books I packed was Lulu the Snow Goat. Andrew laughed out loud at the almost-unbelievable but true story of Lulu who could accurately predict snowstorms. He could barely wait to turn the page to see what happened next. When I asked him if he thought other boys and girls would like like it, he said, "Oh, yes, Lulu is awesome!" Of course, he wanted to know if the story really happened, I assured him it really did. A must addition for any elementary library!-Karen R. Lowe, Retired school librarian, university adjunct, library consultant, and past-president of the North Carolina School Library Media Association

Lulu and the book - both winners!
In reading the reviews, a rating was received from a reader who challenged what breed of goat was featured in this book, rather than the quality of the book itself. Whether or not the farmer knew what type of goat Lulu really was is not the point of the story. And out of respect to the farmer, (who may have mistakenly thought his goat was of another breed), the author chose to write the story of Lulu the Snow Goat exactly the way the farmer told it to him. Lulu, indeed, helped keep thousands of school children safe and off the roads during treacherous, snowy weather. Through her lifetime, she sent many needy students to college. This is a GREAT story!
