I'm giving 5 stars because this is a good product and I recommend it
Ok, I'll start with this: I'm giving 5 stars because this is a good product and I recommend it, not because it's the greatest thing ever. The 5 star rating is more because I know people base their buying decisions on the overall rating and frankly, this is a pretty good product at this price point. Honestly at about $100 I almost want to dislike it or at least find something wrong with it, but so far it's been solid. Some reviewers stated theirs did not come with lens covers, but mine did. Were they amazing lens covers? Absolutely not. But were they appropriate given the nature of this product? They sure were. I have used an M68 close combat optic and a 3 power ACOG with my issued M4A1, and the Monstrum is definitely not a peer of either of those products. However, it is a great little optic to have fun with at the range. You have to read the instruction manual to figure out how to make adjustments (*gasp* who has time to read stuff?!) as some other reviewers pointed out, the adjustment dials are not labeled clearly. But seriously, it's a $100 ish optic. The glass is clear enough, the reticle illumination is bright enough, and I've put probably a couple hundred rounds down range using it and it hasn't lost its zero, even though I only hand tightened it when I first installed it and I haven't messed with it since. It seems sturdy enough, but I hadn't really played rough with it. Would I take it to war with me? ... Actually, maybe. But only if my m68 and ACOG were not available. The white lettering on the side proclaiming the company name is dorky looking but whatever. If your budget is a little light and you're just looking to have some fun on the range, this is not a bad choice at all. ***Update: 3 years later***** I have NOT re-zeroed this since the first time, so that should tell you something. I have much more experience with some much better optics (Aimpoint, Vortex, Trijicon) since I first wrote the above review, and that makes the shortcomings of this optic much more clear to me, however I'm going to stand by my original review. This is a $100 ish optic, you get what you pay for, it is fun but not in any way the equal of more expensive options. As other reviewers have pointed out, it did come loose after a while, both the rings/mount and the optic mounted in the rings. I tightened both and didn't need to re-zero, didn't bother with any Loctite or anything like that, it still rattles a little from time to time but seems to work fine. I have it mounted on a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 and have fired probably between 500 and 1,000 rounds since mounting it. Buy it for fun at the range, don't bet your life on it unless you have no other choice.

Lot of scope for a Little money
I was a little sceptical knowing it was a China import but first impressions we're all good and I honestly don't see any real issues with this scope. It comes in a really nice quality well padded box that gives the impression that something of quality is being protected inside. Opening it up you find the scope is sealed and protected in a heavy plastic pouch and comes with a battery installed, an extra battery, lens cloth and a well written (in clear english) manual. First off... I haven't shot with it yet but I'm giving my opinions of it so far. I can't comment on the claims that the turrets are labeled backwards (needing to adjust opposite how it's marked for windage and elevation) ...but I don't really care if they are, no biggie. I can say the glass seems really clear for an $82 scope. Build quality seems solid, feels maybe a tad heavy but that translates to durable and tuff.. it's fine. Finish isn't quite what I see on my more expensive scopes but it looks good, nothing obvious, the aluminum casting maybe not be as perfect as more expensive scopes. Reticle was blurred at first but after adjusting the eye focus ring it's perfect and sharp as can be. The illuminated reticle works as it should, helps when dark or shaded but not really needed in most normal day time lighting conditions. Again I haven't shot it yet but can't see there being any issues. Best I can tell it's a great value for the price payed. As far as mounting.. I bought this for my flat top AR .22cal. Standard sight height on the AR platform seems to be about 2-3/4 center to center above bore. For me the stock scope set right at 2-1/2 which is probably ok for some. I liked it on a 1/2 quick release riser making it a 3" center height with the eyepiece right at flush with the back edge of charging handle. This left no room for BUIS (backup sights) but works best for me. Sorry so long. I say it's good to go and think I'll get one for my 9mm carbine too if things go as well as I expect. Good luck!

Definitely worth the price.
Great scope for the price. The only reason its 4 stars instead of 5 is the very short eye relief. Most people would be good with it but i have a very long length of pull. On an ar platform I have to lean forward slightly to get full view, even with it mounted as far back as possible. The clarity and brightness are much better than I expected from a $100 scope. It stays on target great. I'm running 150g supersonic (1900fps) cor bon 300aac, so recoil is slightly more than a typical 5.56. At 100yds I put 10 3rd groups in the red, the center dot actually completly covered each individual group.

Fantastic optic, not just for the price but just ...
Fantastic optic, not just for the price but just overall a great item. Honest review .... took this to the range on my AR style rifle and was skeptical, obviously. However after sighting it in I was able to hit 18" steel plates at 700 yards 9/10 times. And 6" targets at 500 yards. What the description fails to explain is the reticle itself. The horizontal line of the reticle is 24 MOA @ 100yds meaning if you have a 24" wide target at 100 yards then the tip to tip of the horizontal line will fit exactly over it. Hopefully I explained that well. My bullet drop was easy to find using the vertical line of the reticle. 100-200 yds was basically the center point, 300 yds was about middle and 400 was the lower tip of the vertical reticle. After that its guess work. The colored reticle on either red or green Max is faint in the sunlight but great for evening shooting. And the colors don't have a hue halo over powering the reticle shape so the reticle stays sharp looking. Only thing that seemed odd was the elevation and windage adjustments, they say turn it one way for up but in fact its opposite. But perhaps that's me. *no experience with "is it battle ready" or "can it survive a sudden drop from X high" basically its a $100 scope that does what's expected of it, so either buy it and enjoy or buy it and throw it in the dirt.... best part is it its cheap to buy and works.

Monstrum delivers again
This marks my third Monstrum optic and they again delivered an optic whose quality far exceeds its price. Pros: Super clear glass Bright R&G illumination Clear etched non-illuminated reticle Quality, durable feel and construction Appealing aesthetically with a quality finish Versatile size for use on various firearms Cons (admittedly nitpicky): W&E turrets can’t be adjusted with caps like other Monstrum optics Lens cover is basic and not flip up (but still effective) A tad on the heavy side for its size Overall, for less than $100 this is a great buy for a prism optic and I’d certainly recommend it to those that are interested.

The Snap, the flecks and the retical
I always through this optic had a lot going for it. Aprox 100$ low magnification making it a jack of all trades (Master at none) and looks super cool 😎 I wanted a cheap, simple low magnification optic for one of my rifles and well... Here's my experience with it so far... (I'll do my best to I keep it brief) I'm gonna start off this review initially giving the optic a 5/5 stars purely at face value and what it says it offers. First arrival: Comes in a nice simple box that holds it well, would keep if I wanted to store it. Also came with a rubber eye cup glass protector, 1 battery, and I think 1 or 2 micro fiber cloths. (Nice touch but I really don't care too much +0.5 stars) Overall build quality: Seems nice, not rattly, nothing is loose and feels good in the hand. What you would expect. I did not know that it is "Range adjustable" the black ring in the back of the optic that holds the glass end you look through actually screws out partly to change the focus of the optic (The further you unscrew the easier close objects are to see) Doesn't seem too practical and wish it did not need to focus at all, I just leave it all the way in as it comes. (+0 stars) Glass quality/Retical: It's fine, nothing special HOWEVER, there are 2 small flecks of what I'm going to assume is paint? Dust maybe? On the inside of the glass somewhere. It not noticable unless your looking for it OR are looking at it at an illuminated Target/ using it at night in conjunction with a flash light. My retical was a O with a • in the middle like advertised. (Some people say they get something different) I like it HOWEVER the red/green illustration settings bleed light into the rest of the optic when in use actually lowering the overall view quality noteably more so at night. During the day on a very bright day even on the highest setting it's somewhat hard to see. Personally I just leave it off. (The little black flecks are only slightly annoying and don't obscure your fov, the Illumination for the retical kinda sucks, -0.5 stars) Mounting... Oh boy...: Got it where I wanted it easy enough, it mounts using 2 tower Nuts that need use of a wrench (Or pliers/multi-tool ect) to tighten (No cut out for a flat head screwdriver) I was told it's wise to put lock-tight or thread locker on the bolts so I used a healthy amount of BLUE Lock-T before tightening them down. Alternating between the two nuts a few twists at a time with a hand wrench. I began getting them snugly hand tight just like you would any other optic. I stared to hit a light amount of resistance on the rear nut and continued through it (Not cranking on it super hard just wanting It hand tight) when all the sudden the nut snapped off! Bouncing around the garage before landing somewhere. Still haven't found it, feel very lucky it didn't take an eye out. I gather myself and tighten the front bolt cautious and let the lock tight set. The bolt was still completely threaded into the mounting mechanism and held tight onto my rail. The head of the nut simply snapped clean off though. Since now I have to drill out that bolt to remove the scope I decide to see if it would hold zero (in theory it should since only the head of the bolt popped off and the rest was still in there with lock tight... -2 for the catastrophic failure of the mount system and -1 because now I can't remove it without power tool or stick it on any other rail after that happens) Zeroing: For context it lives on a 14.5" Barrel 5.56 chambered AR-pistol. Took it to the range and to my surprise the optic obtained and retained zero. Quite accurately too as I was able to shoot the center of a quarter sized target from aprox 25 yards away. I was impressed, despite it's catastrophic failure the optic was still firmly bound to the rail with 0 play, wobble or shift in zero even when handling the rifle by the optic itself. for the about 100 round I shot including light labored duty doing a few reload drills it had 0 issues, Was a pleasure to use after it was zeroed and does everything I wanted out of it after that. (P.S my windage and elivation turrets where not backwards and I was able to zero with ease)(Time and more experience with it will tell if it keeps zero and holds up to use but I'd give it a +1 star for actually still performing despite it's short comings) Final thoughts... With out personal biased that leave us with a 3 star optic. (I'm gonna use a little biased and say its 4 stars) I'll let you come to your own conclusions on what you think this optic is worth and if you should buy it. Keeping in mind it's price and everyone elses experiences with it. I can tell you even though it isn't perfect, had a major failure in the mount and has its flaws... For a less than 100$ 2x optic that holds zero and is enjoyable to shoot and look freaking sick, I'm still pretty happy with my purchase (So long as it continues to hold zero and function properly) Just know what your getting yourself into and have your expectations adjusted.

Clear optics. Bright reticle.
I can't rate its accuracy because I returned the scope. These prism scopes -- all of them, no matter who makes them -- have short eye-relief and the particular rifle I wanted to use it on has a shorter, and non-standard Picatinny rail placement. This meant I couldn't quite mount the scope and get a full field of view. But I did spend some time with the scope and found the optics very clear, and the reticle illumination bright. I hated to send the scope back, and fear that I'll have to revert to a red-dot on this rifle (because of its Picatinny rail) although my aging eyes really need some magnification. The scope seems well made, sturdy, and the finish is perfect.

Very nice optic for the price and for range use
I finally had the chance to get to the range today with my Monstrum 3x Prism Scope (Model S330P) that I purchased from Amazon, mounted on my AK74 . It was a sunny 55 degree day here. The scope was mounted to a "Fireclub NEW A-K47 Scope Mount" I also purchased from Amazon. The Monstrum scope is surprisingly bright & clear and seems well assembled for it's price point. The illumination in both red and green works well. I did not use illumination when shooting today since it was so sunny out, so I cannot speak to how well the illumination is in bright/sunny conditions. The etched reticle worked well today. A couple of thoughts right up front: I feel this scope is strictly a range shooting optic. Though for it's price it worked very well for me today, if my AK74 was more than a range firearm at this point in time, I would look for a better mount and more robust optic. In fact, this was a test really to see how I liked an optic on this rifle since my eyes are getting older. I started shooting at 25 yards and making windage and elevation adjustments. And like others have mentioned, the marked adjustments on the turrets are exactly opposite of how you need to move the reticle. Yes, that caused some fun. After getting a zero at 25 yards, I moved out to 50 yards. I did have to fine tune my zero at that range. Then it was on to 100 yards. Unfortunately there was some confusion going on at the shooting range by that point and I only was able to put six rounds down range at 100 yards. Through it all the scope performed beautifully. I shot a total of 160 rounds of 60 grain Silver Bear ammo, 5.45x39 and it never lost zero or had any malfunctions. For the purpose I purchased the scope for, I am completely satisfied. I do have a few of suggestions for Monstrum on product improvement though. 1. I include flip up lens covers. That "bikini" cover can be easy to get lost. 2. Drill the riser for standard ACOG mounts. I think with the base removed, the scope could sit a little lower that way. 3. Do something to make the reticle focus ring tighter. I put electrician's tape around mine to hold it in place. So all-in-all, a decent shooting range ready, 3x optic for the price. Also the Fireclub mount worked well. I wouldn't have the confidence in it that I have in my Aimpoint on my M4 clone, and I know battery life wont be as long as the Aimpoint; but for the range and the price you pay, this optic is good to go.
