DynexExternal USB Floppy Disk Drive DX-EF101 (1.44MB)

I was amazed at how quickly the product arrived. I used it immediately and many times since it arrived and it works perfectly. I am 100% satisfied with the product, the price and the service. I often order from Amazon because I trust them and I've never had a problem with an order or how the product functioned.

I ordered this product because it was advertised to be compatible with WINDOWS 7. It came with an installation disc but it was not needed to load. I loaded my 'floppy disc' & my files were displayed. When I clicked on the files they FAILED to open. I tried another floppy. Same result. This product DOES NOT WORK IF YOU ARE RUNNING WINDOWS 7. This product is USELESS to me. So much for "truth in Advertising".

As with many other people, I have some old floppies and no way to get at them. So, I bought this.The only reason that I gave it 4 rather than 5 is that initially, when 1st installed it, it didn't work right.It would not recognize a different disk w/o unplugging and then plugging the drive back in.Finally, I shut down the PC, restarted it, and watched carefully after plugging the drive back in. It reinstalled the driver, why I don't know, and the PC seemed to now have an accurate profile this time of the drive. Don't know what happened, but it works fine now. I'm running Windows 7.

Enclosed documentation states it is plug and play for systems with XP and Windows 7 with no special drivers needed. In both cases message appears "You need to format the disk in Drive A before you can use it. Do you want to format it." Multiple previously recorded 1.44 MB HD floppy disks generate the same message. Whatever the cause, does not do the job it was purchased for.

This handy dandy little portable USB 3.5" Floppy Disk Drive is IT's Little Helper for anyone that still embellishes in old tyme legacy software. Bought from Tom's TV on Amazon.....got a great price, great delivery, & has worked flawlessly! Condition was absolutely perfect.

There is more to be said.This right here is the missing information.Hi, I've been looking for something to back up those old school projects on and purchased this item..... Here's some old geekspeak for ya:There is actually a distinction these drives (and old floppy disk drives both internal and external) make between "HIGH DENSITY DISKS" and "DOUBLE DENSITY DISKS". (HD floppies vs. DD floppies). On the box at Best Buy, for example, it says that this Dynex Drive works with HD floppy disks. That is, ONLY HD (high density) floppy disks!DD "double density" disks would not read in this device.....It would be nice if the Product Information of these items and reviews of these items, (in shopping here on amazon) included whether or not these items used HD disks, DD disks, or both.I suppose DD floppies are really getting to be a thing of the past!Otherwise, this item works perfectly well and instantly on current platforms! Up to a dual intel iMac platform, once again, using ONLY High Density floppy disks.Thanks!

Works like a charm. Installed plug and play on a 64bit W98 system. Usedentirely satisfactorily in a 32bit Vista system. The USB cord was 14" longwhich might be an issue or inconvenience for some, but wasn't for me.

Floppy discs have went the way of the dinosaurs. If you've got a bunch and want to transfer them to your computer it works. Just make sure the floppies are in good shape. They are awful easy to get jammed then the floppy disk drive is useless.
