We love Dick and Jane books!
As a homeschooling mom to a 10yo with severe learning disabilities, I absolutely love the Dick and Jane books. These books have made learning to read so much fun and easier then any other series we have tried. My daughter has issues with her memory and because these books repeat the same words over and over it makes it easier for her brain to comprehend and remember them.

I Grew Up On These Readers!
My grandson just turned 5 and is borderline Autistic. I had tried many, many book to try and teach him to read but none was a success like the Dick and Jane readers. He is now on his 3rd book in 2 weeks at level 1. What makes these books so good is that the repetition is better than any book that I have found and that is how you learn the WORDS by repetition. I grew up on learning to read with these readers. I would have gotten them before but I thought they were out of print and did not use them anymore. I saw some of the original books on EBay but the sellers are wanting way too much money for them. I don't know if the school system use these anymore (probably don't) because they are taking everything worth learning from school and teaching them a bunch of CRAP! I read one review on here and they said they wouldn't given 5 stars but because the pictures in the book were the same all the time and a child needs to see different pictures or people. Well let me tell you it isn't the pictures that going to teach them to read and there is nothing wrong with having the same pictures all the time. The writer of this book wasn't focused so much on the pictures they focused on the repetition of words something that makes the child REMEMBER words. People can be so picky at time they focus on the wrong thing. But I will leave this with you if you are having a difficult time getting your child to read PLEASE get the Dick and Jane readers. I know if an Austic child can learn to read with these readers an ordinary child can.

My Niece Loves Them
I purchased these for my niece who struggles with reading. These books have helped her to read faster and to be confident as she reads. They are definitely a great starter point for reading beginners. I wouldn't buy these if you're looking for a book to entertain your child (who already has reading down). There's not much to the story. However, for a child who is learning how to read, it is exciting. My niece loves them and like I said, it has made her more confident with reading other books. She hops on my lap, excited to read these.

Thankful
So glad that these were available. I loved these as a kid. I find a lot of beginner reader books these days are not that great at all. These are simple and repetitive so that your child can become familiar with certain words with each story these books tell. Really built confidence in my child being able to read on his own.

Oldie but Goodie
My son had a hard time learning to read and my friend that is a retired librarian suggested this book, saying sometimes just go back to basics and to what has worked in the past. She was right. Simple, nothing to silly and easy to follow!
