Believe it or not, it took 1 minute!
We have had an ongoing problem with a chipmunk (chipmunks?) for 2 years! My husband & I have tried everything - every chipmunk kind of repellent in the universe (natural & store bought), pouring concrete in every new hole, and even digging out next to our driveway and putting 2 18” x 18” steel sheets to prevent digging under our driveway and sidewalk. We would joke that the chipmunk was smarter than us, every time we thought we had out smarted him! Sadly, I finally had enough and looked up on Amazon for some kind of chipmunk poison to stop the insanity.I instead saw this humane chipmunk trap with great reviews, which I had never considered before.I ordered it, and it arrived in one day. When I got up in the morning there was more digging as usual. I got the trap, put peanut butter right on the trip and put the trap on the cement next to the digging.Believe or not, I decided to go back out actually ONE minute later (really) and as I was approaching the trap, before I could see it, I heard it trip! There he was, CAUGHT!The trap had worked beautifully, and he was a big chipmunk!I woke my husband up, and he was shocked when Itold him.We immediately put the cage in a cardboard box and drove the chipmunk to a nature area several miles from our home.We walked a little ways into the woods, put the trap down, opened it, and out he scurried into his new neighborhood. To our amazement, there is no more digging and no more destruction! As of now we have not needed to use the cage again! That ONE chipmunk had been causing all the destruction and frustration!I usually do not write reviews, but we are so pleased with the effectiveness of this product we had to write about our experience. We feel good that we did not have to resort to any kind of chipmunk poison, but found a humane solution!

It is easy to set and it worked right the first time.
Obviously, the Chinese "instructions" on the trigger plate were worthless to me.However - the trap actuating is highly intuitive so I baited with a 2L soda bottle cap and peanut butter. The cap wedged gently and easily in the trigger plate fork nicely requiring full rodent weight to easily activate the release. It is easy to set and it worked right the first time.I also used it to carry the chipmunk out to a new home.FYI - Chipmunks are even cuter up close, thanks to the trap, but it took the wife a few minutes to calm him down and not get hurt ricocheting around inside. The chipmunk liked the trap well enough that I had to coax him out to be set free . . . :-D

3 Hours after delivered I caught the little ba$tard!! LOL!!!
I've had this little regular uninvited visitor (chipmunk) coming by on a regular basis . I would watch him/her (it) run up my deck stairs and go somewhere behind the gill. Then run back down again. This had been going on for about 2 weeks. I finally decided to buy this trap- to catch and release across town. I read (on Google) that pumpkin seeds, peanut butter, and/or sunflower seeds made good bait for chipmunks. They also said to place the trap in the route the critter normally takes. So I used pumpkin seeds. I like them too. Placed the trap. And 3 hours later... BAM!!!There's Alvin!I took him to the woods on the other side of town and let him go. Easy-Peasy! GREAT trap. Came as promised. Worked perfectly. No complaints.I'm now checking for Simon.

THIS TRAP WORKS
Been having problems with chipmunks eating my tomato plants so i needed to take action. Put hot pepper flakes down with no luck so i bought two plastic traps which they broke on me the first night. Bought this trap and the first day we caught one energetic chipmunk that was going crazy in the trap. I can see why they broke the plastic traps. Reset it again and this morning found another one dead in the trap. THIS WORKS REAL GOOD. UPDATE... Since my review we caught two more chipmunks, one which we found dead and another energetic one which we released at a local park. Today we found a small bird in the cage which flew away when i opened the trap..

Sensitive trigger and caught the chipmunk within minutes!
Wow! Very surprised with this trap. Caught that pesky chipmunk within 5 minutes! The trap is light weight which could be a problem because a squirrel might be able to flip the trap over, but I haven’t had that problem. The trigger is super sensitive I bet a mouse could trip it off! I love the trap so far!Update 9-1-2020: after using this trap throughout the summer it has caught plenty of rodents! It caught a mouse, lots of squirrels and chipmunks. Only issue is when the squirrels get trapped. The squirrels are so big that it broke the wire that makes the trap go off. Easy fix though. Just put another wire in that precious hole and twist the wire so it won’t slip off and you’re good to go! The squirrels were unable to get out and never tipped the trap over. Very pleased with it!

It works perfectly!!!!!
I used this trap to catch and release chipmunks before they start destroying my tomatoes when they ripen next month. This trap works perfectly and we caught 24 chipmunks in the last two weeks. As a retired metallurgical and design engineer, I can tell you this trap is very well engineered with a sensitive and easy to set trigger mechanism. Congratulations to the engineers and manufacturing people.

I prefer the biggest cage (squrriel) size is the biggest
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Ok ok ok. I had something in my attic for a year. Decided to get this. Put peanut butter in as the bait. I caught a rat. I then set it up again. 2 days later , I caught a squirrel. After releasing it at a park. I tried to use the cage again but the part where u put the bait. Was cheap and broke and xant be replaced. That's my only reason I get it 4 stars!

Broke after one successful capture
We originally thought this trap was going to be the answer for us to capture and release some chipmunks that kept getting in our garage. After the first successful capture, we proceeded to set it up again and found that it would not set. One of the rivets had broken loose. I guess it was too cheaply made and unfortunately it costs $16 to remove one chipmunk!!!! Won't take a chance on this one again!
