Really good book and start to a series
This is a really good book, lots of action, magic, dragons, intrigue, destroyed real world and all the fun you get from that, etc. loved the characters and the story. I definitely recommend this book and the rest of the series.

good intro book
I liked the story a lot! Not always a fan of the military and real world references, but in general I like the complex political landscape and the direction of the story!

lovely intro
Great intro into a Fascinating world. I want to see where it goes, even if I may a be a little lost state wise sometimes like how some abilities are progressing dmg wise I enjoyed it immensely.

Dragonz
I was unfamiliar with Mr. Baldwin's work prior to this, but this book did a great job of hooking my interest. It's slower than the latter books - as is expected - but the pacing is by no means poor. At every turn, Hector is forced to be decisive, which is especially relevant given the amnesia that accompanies his deaths. Along the way, he finds friends, such as Rutha, an intelligent and accomplished diplomat who aids him on his quest to become LORD OF THE DRAGONS (not quite, but close enough). The book has a plenitude of action, tactics, interesting (and well-implemented) game elements, and cool characters. Try it!Addendum: This is much shorter than most reviews I write, but it's been two years since I've read it - closer to 2.5 years, really - and I wanted to correct that ASAP, since I know how 'Zon's algorithm smites authors.

Great series, at 3 books as I write this.
I'm just getting around to writing this review, a year late. Better late than never, and now that the author is at book 3, I felt compelled to chime in.At this point, there are plenty of spoilers, and I'm going to write the same review for books 1 and 2, because... like I said, we're up to book 3 now! This books starts out like Yet Another LitRPG book, with our MC permanently transferred to a virtual world. Yeah, been there, done that. But wait, there's... dragons! Okay, right, done that, too. The MC is an odd character, with some odd abilities. Right, right, is there anything that HASN'T been done before?I'm glad you asked, because yes. Yes, there is. But I have to warn you: you'll probably enjoy the fist book just fine if you're into the LitRPG genre, and the writing is good enough to keep things moving along. In fact, the writer takes the time to really build out his world, and MORE importantly, builds his characters into "real" characters.I liked the first two books well enough, but probably wouldn't have bothered to leave a review for them, without the arrival of book 3. At that point, things had developed -- I will say again that the *characters* have developed to the point where I felt the series deserved the praise.Good stuff, and I hope to see book 4 in the not-too-distant future!

Good book
I liked the main character even if he has a potty mouth. The storyline is very original and the characters are full of emotional energy.I would recommend this book to adults and late teens.

WOOT!!!
Stumbled on this series and it sucked me in over the weekend... literally... and am on book 3 and it's Monday. (Feeling a cold coming on...) Love the snarky character interactions. Really like the characters. The point of view stays with the main character... which I like in this instance. You could easily write another series of books... each from the point of view of the other characters over the same timeline. Not as hardcore RPG as other books... not quite as much focus on the mechanics. I think it's a good balance, IMHO.

Great series start, exciting and intriguing!
Congratulations to James Osiris Baldwin for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book.

An amazing read!
This was an excellent story, I got so hooked on it. I haven't done RPGs for 30 years but really enjoyed feeling like the main character had some control over his future. The action was great and I look forward to reading the next books in the series.

Wonderful
I hadn't read a LitRPG story in a while so I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I needn't have worried though as the author's style of writing, description of the characters and the well thought out narrative soon had me glued to the book. You can identify very easily with all of the main characters and although there were a few unexpected surprises, they embellished the narrative as a whole and any time where I was forced by personal.matters to put the story down I was always eager to get back to my reading!A wonderful start to the series and I cannot wait to get started on book 2.

Great Litrpg
I enjoyed the book a lot and look forward to see more of this worlds dragons. The flawed, yet cool and multidimensional MC and the mysterious backstory that intertwines game lore and real world conspiracies make this a must read!

A Ripping Read
I am a long time Dungeons and Dragons player, and love the LitRPG genre, so I really looked forward to reading this book.It did not disappoint. What a full on, fun and thrilling ride! The world is brilliantly detailed, the hero, Hector, is nuanced, complex and oh-so-real, all other characters are vibrant and detailed,I absolutely loved this book and read it in a single sitting, unable to put it aside, until I was done.I am now buying the second book in this wonderful series.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book!
