A very solid stop motion rig that can carry heavy loads
The media could not be loaded. I was looking for a stop motion rig that can support 1/6 scale action figures which are quite heavy. I bought 2 rigs: Cinespark and another that goes by several brands (Vuresque/JMYTK/Kihomi) to see which rig would better served my need. The Vureque is just a vertical axis only winder at about $120 and the Cinespark which was an x / y winder was a lot more expensive at $275!! So the question is which rig is worth it?The Cinespark PTR-300 rig is very solid stop motion rig and with the arm fully extended, it is able to carry a very heavy load beyond its maximum 500g stated load. There are 2 parts to this rig, the armature arms and the winder. The winder frame is all metal and the rack arms are easy to position with the large knobs. They are able to stay in the X or Y position even without the rubber brakes engaged. The knobs are a little tight, but I expected it to smooth out as the rack and pinion are gradually broken in. The winder supports the rack arms through 4 points of contact for each axis. 2 are from the pinion gears on one side and 2 rubber wheels on the other keeps the arms very steady and solid. You can see my video for the details. The other part is the armature arms which are easily adjusted with large levers. The levers can also be repositioned by pulling out the lever and adjusting them so that it doesn't get in the way. More importantly they can carry a surprising amount of weight. I was able to carry my 800g lego imperial shuttle with the arms fully extended which was surprising. The other rig which although smooth, was not as well constructed and more importantly couldn't carry the load I required. But to be fair, that was only rated at 100g load which feel short of my needs. So this one I'm returning. In the end, I've decide to keep the Cinespark PTR-300 rig despite the much higher price. For the amount of money ($275), you get a solid rig that is well constructed that can carry heavy loads while being easy to control. Also this rig has an extra horizontal axis which made it easy to justify over the other.
