SCARPAMen's Kailash Plus GTX Waterproof Gore-Tex Leather Hiking Boots

I had an older pair of Kailash GTX's that I've had for roughly 8 or 9 years, and they held up exceptionally well, while being comfortable, durable and waterproof. I only had to replace them because the soles had completely worn through, and a small area of the leather on the side where it meets with the sole had ripped open and was no longer waterproof, which is important to me. The hole was only 1/4" long, and probably could have been avoided by having the soles replaced. I put those boots through torture. Lots of hiking on jagged rocks, rappelling and stomping in caves, working, carrying heavy appliances on concrete for nearly 2 years, and a lot of wear from several years more of physical work. They were used harder than probably intended, and they took it for much longer than I would have expected.The new ones so far are much of the same. I've been wearing them for about 2 months, and so far, so good. They look great and feel great. I have zero complaints so far. If these hold up for the same 8-10 years like the old pair did, it'll be WELL worth the price. Aside from these, the only other boots that I've owned that have held up for more than 5 years of hard wear, are Frye boots at about 50% more cost.

Very supportive and sturdy but need to replace within a year because of daily use

Very well-made boot with a mostly one piece nubuck leather upper. Not a soft and flexy boot like many others that are this light (610g in Size 41.5 wide). It’s very stiff and protective in the heel and midsole as I prefer, but with just enough flex at the ball of the foot to use for backpacking and just hiking. Not stiff to the toe like a mountaineering boot, but stiffer than many other options like the Solomon Quest or even the Lowa Renegade. That’s hard to find in a lightweight boot and one with wide sizing available. I found the Scarpa’s other stiff light boot the Zodiac Tech narrower, stiffer in the toe, and hadn’t enough upper to control heel lift as other reviewers note with that boot. Not getting any heel lift or motion in the Kailash. The wide sizes aren’t ultra wide -maybe “E” width or a bit more. Works for me where most regular width boots do not. Good one Scarpa!

..knew from years of hiking, etc.....Italian leather......shoes regardless of category will be well made.....purchased for brother...farm...many animals..lots of walking.....they fit perfectly....he wore all day..approx. 18 hrs....THESE ARE AWSOME...FORGOT I HAD NEW BOOTS ON! no breaking in....no sore feet st end of 1st day...Trust me ..lots of hype out there about boots....SCARPA IS BAD...BAD...BAD...(i.e. good)....he owns a 60 ft boat...fishing...even worn them on the boat!!!

You can't beat the price for high quality boots like these. This is my second pair of Scarpa's after wearing the first pair for 6+years. I did not expect them to be made in Italy. They do need break in time and I would recommend at first wearing them around the house and going on light hikes.

I'll start by saying that I loved these boots. So it's really disappointing that they started falling apart. Both boot's seams started separating from the toe area (see pics) at the same time. After a year and a half of wear, this is what happens. I feel like I should of been able to get another year or two out of them. Plus, I have never had a pair boots of this quality or lesser quality do anything like that. So, if you're looking for boots that'll last, these are not them. Scarpa may loose me as a repeat customer after this pair.

These boots are okay, but i'm really annoyed that a boot which costs over $300 would start leaking in under a year. I've used these for day hiking and maybe put a bit over 100 moderate miles on them. The left boot is fine, but the right boot leaks water. I contacted Scarpa to see if it was normal that the goretex fails after under a year and their underwhelming response was, "try wax." I'd rather have regular leather boots without goretex if the wax is what will be doing the waterproofing. I'd keep that in mind if you're looking at these boots, as that is an important feature to fail.

Very happy with these boots. Well made, supportive and comfortable. Look neat as well. Fit runs a little on the narrow side.
