A very complete book for candle making. Great start up book for beginners--thorough and easy to follow. I would recommend.

This is a brilliant candle making book. The best I've seen written for a home crafts person. The book explains how to make soy(a) and beeswax candles, both pillar and freestanding, but also in containers and the always fun beeswax sheet candles which are so quick as easy. The is an excellent introduction with great detail on the different sort of waxes and wicks (the best wick explanation I've seen), along with how to use colour and scents. The author explains that you can use essential oils or fragrance oils. The reason I like her other books is because she uses essential oils so much. I took a star off because unlike some of her other books which only use essential oils, only 11 of the 27 recipes (there are three further unscented recipes) use essential oils. The rest use fragrance oils. While she explains very well at the beginning how to replace one with the other, by not giving recipe blends of essential oils you can work out the volume required easily enough (from her conversion instructions), but you have to make up your own blends for these other recipes. This is something most of us buy a book for as we don't want to have to buy loads of different essential oils and try and work out blends that work well, as no doubt many don't! However the 11 options given sound really good, are no repetitive and don't contain particular expensive essential oils which is great. So it's still well worth buying, and even with this small gripe it is the best candle making book on the market.

This book has really started a whole new dimension to my life! I used to purchase a well known brand of candle that I very much enjoyed but found that they were expensive to keep buying and thought I'd try it out myself. So I purchased this book after seeing the reviews and liked the fact that it was mostly with eco soya wax after hearing the scare over paraffin wax. Initial cost of getting some of the bits and pieces wasn't too bad, I bought from a supplier on eBay which I found much more reasonable then going to direct supplier websites. Made a few candles and have been pleased with the results. Lots of different projects to do in this book that are achievable so will be working my way through them. So easy to adapt them to what you have and what you like as well. Easily laid out and pleasurable to read....so much so that I then bought the Soap book by Elaine Stavert and have started on them too....have got so into this craft that now I have purchased the whole set of books! Great recipes, so easy to understand and work with, great pictures and totally pleasurable just to curl up and read! I 100% recommend this book to beginners with the warning that it could lead to more!!!

Cozy is on my radar now, and im gonna check them out whenever i need a book in the future. Just like the soap making book, written by the same author, this about candle offers a great range of ideas, it also cover about colott, specigic pigments, purgme fragrances if you wish to use those instead of essetial oils, and other ingrdients mostly gound in our kitchen to carry out some of these recipes. Love it!!

I first saw this book in our local library but it was requested by another person so I did not get to keep it for long but remember that it had so much useful information in it to get the beginner started.I am looking forward to making some candles shortly and know that this is possible mostly because of this really useful guide and resource with great pictures to illustrate what exactly one is aiming to achieve. Well worth its money.

What a fabulous book! Well presented and written. The writer is encouraging and engaging in her craft, equipping people with knowledge to get them started. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to bringing some of it's projects to life.
