Fills in holes between AC IV and Forsaken
Just for the record, this may contain slight spoilers for the previous book, Forsaken.A great appeal for this book is that it starts sometime before the events of AC IV, goes through the events of the game, and a little bit further beyond that. So we get more detailed explanations on how Edward ended up where he was at the start of the game, and what his friends and family were like, such as Caroline, his mother and father. The book also explains how a notorious criminal/pirate like Edward, ends up with the means and resources he has at the beginning of Forsaken. The game never quite explains that, and I had a hard time excepting a pirate could blend into society like that without question. This book explains how.The book does have some typos in a few places, and the descriptions of some characters don't quite match up with the game (such as Edward wearing a Tricorne) But I suppose that comes with writing a book before the game is released. Video Game novels reveal what a character is thinking in events you played in the game, and this is no different, such as what Edward thinks about the voluptuous Anne Bonny when she is around.Great book for Assassin's Creed fans.

Delightful book full of adventure and Piracy, without even playing the Assassins Creed Black Sails game.
I'm not a game player by any means, but I was drawn to the AC legend of Captain Kenway from a friend's recommendation on historical semi-fiction on piracy and the Caribbean islands. This book will not disappoint but delight and keep you riveted until the end. Maybe a little less graphic description of the killings and a little more description of Kenway's inner romantic, but a quality read, I promise.

A serviceable adaptation
As the first book I've read in this series of adaptations of the video games of the same name, it is a respectable retelling of the game's main storyline, with only a small handful of additional insights into the story. The Assassin's Creed games are basically historical fiction, and this tale takes an entertaining look into the golden age of piracy. It's not great literature, and it probably will take most people just as long to play the game's main storyline as it will for them to read the book, but if the games intrigue the reader, or maybe they want to learn a little bit about the era, then this book is worth reading.

Long Live Edward Kenway,The Assassin King of the Pirates!!!

If You Loved the Main Chracter You'll love this
Now I've replayed the game to this story multiple times and despite the fact I know what happens In the bulk of the book I would still say it worrents a read if you enjoyed the character of Edward Kenway it does a great job of adding more to who he is even when it's going through the main story of the game i shows us his regrets and worries in smaller decisions making him feel more humane overall loved it.I

It was ok
This novel was my least favorite in the series. The whole pirate theme was cool, as was the introduction of Blackbeard and other legendary pirates. However, the dialogue was written from a first person perspective, that of a man with no real idea of how to tell a story to make it interesting.

This was so good.
I don't know what I expected from an Assassin's Creed book, but it certainly wasn't what I got, and i am sad that it's finished.

Awesome book!
Great read! I should also get the earlier books. I just got this one because and overly critical friend of mine said it sucked. But he hates everything. Lesson here is don't listen to others pick this up and experience the adventure for yourself. Warning though it's gross in parts.

Rogue - is there going to be a novel for this game?
I have posted here because I couldn't post on the Oliver Bowden forum - I don't know why but Amazon don't seem to have a connection with the page - that's the gist of the explanation I got anyway!I have read all of the novels in the series so far and I have ordered the latest which is "Unity".They are all very good but seem a little abbreviated from the original game storyline. They loosely follow the story line in the games but for the Desmond/Animus side of the tale which doesn't seem to get a mention."Forsaken" seemed to deviate more than the others.Understandably, there is a lot of content to the games that cannot be covered. I am expecting the movie, (which is allegedly starring Michael Fasbender), to similarly skim over much of the tale too! There is one thing I would like to query: Is there going to be a novel covering Rogue? This is a sort of a backtrack game which is being released on PS3, whilst the Unity game is being promoted on the later consoles. If there is I would like to read it!

Shiver me timbers!
I have always loved Bowden's writing for the AC series. This time, we are taken to a little before Edward Kenway becomes the Assassin/pirate. Bowden really explores the backstory as to how Edward met Caroline Scott and how this affects the assassin story later. If you have played Black Flag, you will know that the book is featured as an easter egg within the game as a kind-of propaganda for Abstergo, which adds to the whole AC story.Another great read if you are an AC fan.

Meh
One of the worst books in the series so far. I think I don't overly like the Edward story, it does add something to the entire story of the Kenway family but honestly it is a bit dull and I still don't get the observatory.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag
Like all Assassin books I found this book no disappointment. The book was a different slant on the story compared to the rest. I enjoyed the journey with the main character as he matured or was forced to mature quickly. I did feel at times though that some of his assistants in the story so to speak could have stayed longer in the story, but seem to have a surprisingly short part of the play. At times I felt that he was rushing through the adventure and that other parts that you were hoping for a good read were over in a flash catching you off guard. Not as bloodthirsty as some of the books but one would suppose his character was learning the trade in the story and at the end left you thinking that there was another book to follow him as he takes up another life in London, let's hope .As I say another good book by Oliver Bowden ;-))
