The plastic is fairly soft and broke very quickly. The crank handle to fire it fell off almost immediately, but could be easily reattached. It fires pretty far, but the loading mechanism seems unreliable and often would fire nothing for a few cycles. The water balls worked quite well, easily absorbing water and getting to a decent size. They're tough enough to leave a bit of an impact, so you should probably wear eye protection, but they're soft enough not to injure someone and they break down very easily. Once broken down, the balls will dry out and dissolve. Often I couldn't find what was left of the balls after an hour or so, as they were basically just dust at that point.

The water beads are painful when your shot with them.

This toy is cheaply made and broke the first day my son took it out to play with it. My husband glued the piece back on to try and salvage it and then the main cartridge that holds the waterbeds broke off making it 100% useless. Waste of money:( and my son was very disappointed to not have this to play with as he had waited several weeks to get it. Bummer.

Both items were broke out of the box.
