Acumen Timer/Thermostat Fireplace Remote Control (RCK-D)

I purchased this to replace the original Acumen receiver RX-04 and transmitter EON-H that came with my Avalon Tree of Life gas stove, purchased in 2015. My old set stopped shutting the stove down, even the 6-Hour safety feature did not work. I think the problem was that the original was installed with velcro attaching it to the bottom of the stove on a cool metal plate (per factory instructions) and with age the velcro started failing and it would fall on the floor, probably damaging the control board in the receiver. This unit comes with a metal insulation box and should resolve the dropping problem. My only complaint is that the box does not include the screws needed to attach it to the cool metal plate on my stove. I will need to buy some self tapping screws to install it.My original unit wires into the on/off switch on the back of my stove with y jumper wires, rather than a millivolt valve. I reinstalled exactly as instructed on the original installation paperwork that came with my stove rather than the paperwork included with the unit and it is working properly. I thought I'd mention this in case your original unit is wired in similarly.It seems like there is some confusion on how this unit works, so thought I'd add some instructions. You can operate this on Manual - the Manual button on the left requires you to turn it on and off and does not operate relative to the set temperature. If you want to use the Timer function, press "Timer" adjust the minutes using the up/down keys from 0 to 120 minutes then turn it on with the Manual on/off button. It will shut down when the timer counts down to 0 minutes, and also does not operate relative to the set temperature. For the Auto feature, you want to set your thermostat temperature like you would on a wall mounted thermostat. The "Clock" and up/down buttons can be used to set the clock, the set temperature and chose between Celsius or Fahrenheit degrees. Once you set temperature, you turn on the unit using the Auto on/off button. The set temperature will cause your unit to turn on and off with a few degrees of that set temperature. For example, if I set it at 70F, it will turn on when the room temperature drops to 68F and will shut down when it hits 73-74F. You may want to run it a couple of days and see what that range calibrates to for your specific stove/fireplace - but it's usually in a 5-8 degree range of operation. I don't want my room temperature dropping below 68F so I may have to set the thermostat at 70-72F depending on how the range settles out. The Auto feature is nice if you are using your fireplace/stove for heating and not just ambiance since it will efficiently operate and maintain your room temperature - set it and forget it!

works as well if not better than the original. easy to install, same functions as original. I read all the reviews, seems some people dont know how to use this device if they think it is unsafe. if the fire comes on, you either have it set on timer, or temperature control. these are great features. you set the temp, and the fire will turn on when you are cod, and off when hot. when you go to bed, you turn it off. I have fallen asleep on sofa many times, and it kept a constant temp all night until i woke up in morning. this is as safe as your furnace that does the same thing all day, all night.

The product itself worked pretty good but this particular one shipped to me did not maintain the temperature consistently. Occasionally shutting off early causing excessive starting and stopping. Faulty product. Replacement works great. Still would only do a partial refund.

This works great when the batteries are new but they drain quickly and it does not function consistently with the batteries low. I am able to turn the fireplace on auto from where the controller rests but then it cannot turn itself off. It could be dangerous. Plus, it would be great if there was an on delay timer so I could have it on before I wake up.

Use magnet on back of stove, attach to valve, and plug in. It's that easy!

Works well and as expected.

I bought this earlier this year. Worked fine for a couple of months. Now it turns on the fireplace but will not turn it off. You have to manually turn off the fireplace. Also, the fireplace randomly turns on. I've tried getting support for this problem but no one will respond.
