Okay - firstly, I just want to say that the product seems top-notch. Well-made with sealed bearings and quality machining. I'm sure I'll be perfectly happy with it after I've done the install for a second time...However, don't make the same mistake I, and many others, have made. There is already a ball bearing installed in the starter clutch assembly. Despite the instructions telling you to make sure you insert a ball bearing, there is already one there, buried in the grease. It wouldn't be so frustrating, except on a Fatboy Lo, you have to tear apart a lot more of the bike than I would like in order to get to the starter in the first place. Installed it today, got it all back together, started it up, and immediately heard a whining/whirring coming from the primary. It sounded like the jackshaft wasn't retracting after the engine start, which is likely exactly what is happening.Tomorrow morning I'll be doing it all over again. Lesson learned, I guess. Despite the instructions, I should have confirmed the absence of the ball bearing before I reused my existing one. I guess I didn't really want to work on the shovelhead this weekend anyway...To All Balls Racing - PLEASE update your instructions to make it clear that a ball bearing is already installed in the assembly!

Excellent product so I will not downgrade the rating for the product, but beware ALL-Balls needs to get off their @55 and update the directions! If you assemble this using your old bearing you will take it apart again (As I and others have done) to remove it as there is already a bearing in it! All Balls should know this from all the previous reviews if they pay any attention but have not corrected the issue. Do yourself a favor and verify it! the bearing in the new one is packed in with grease so look carefully.

Very well made, solid product. Bearings are sealed, unlike the original ones on the Harley assembly. Fit and performs perfectly. Fixed the grinding noise I was getting when I turned the starter over. Glad I went with this replacement versus the $500 Harley wanted for replacing the whole starter. Wish installation instructions were included, but I was able to find some really good information on online forums. Installation was about an hour. So far, a great product.

Don’t waist your time or money it didn’t last but 3 starts for me and yes my battery is good and yea I have the screening eagle compensator. They are just week or I got a week one.

This was a perfect replacement for the stock part on a 2007 Dyna. The description says it fits 2006 Dynas, but should say 06-10. The starter clutch started slipping on my bike, and eventually knocked teeth out of the starter ring gear and the pinion gear on the original clutch assembly. If your starter starts making grinding noises, get one of these immediately and save a costly repair! They are easy to install with a few common mechanic's tools although you might need an impact driver to get the screws out of the starter housing.

My issue was when the bike was hot it would grind like teeth were missing while trying to start. started fine when cooled down. main issue was when riding and stopped to fuel. if i didnt wait 30min to cool down it would take a couple tries and embarrassing grinding noises to start. after doing some research i was pretty sure it was a starter clutch issue. ordered this part. couple hours to replace and now the issue is gone. starts everytime like a new bike.

This item was as described and seems good quality, however, it is not installed yet because I am waiting on other parts to arrive from another supplier.The supplier was very helpful (Tim) and the clutch assembly arrived ahead of the scheduled delivery date. The packaging was good and the item was not damaged during transit.
