Easy to read but multiple steps
My favorite thing about this test is that it is easy to read on the lower end. When silicates are 0, the test sample is clear. I hate tests that make you decipher different (barely distinguishable) shades of a color to determine if the reading is in fact 0. My least favorite thing about this tests is that there are multiple steps and waiting periods between each step. I wouldn’t consider it quick and easy. However, I don’t know how it compares to other Silicate tests as this is the only one I have tried.

Poor Color Standard
This is a more involved test (3 steps comprising 6 minutes) than most. The biggest problem is that the shade of blue in the color chart does not match the shade of blue/gray that develops in the test vial. This means that you have to guess, based upon where the darkness level of the test vial is as compared to the intensity of the blue on the chart.

NO READINGS no matter how much Silica dosed lol.
Many people on reef2reef forums said this doesn't work. Against their guidance, I tried it anyways because it was cheaper than Hannah checker. I have tried it now many times with my 300g reef tank fighting dinos. No reading ever. I tried putting 5 drops to 1 cup of tank water, which is actually enough to bring 1 gallon to 1ppm, so this should get a cup to like maybe 10ppm lol? And STILL no reading at all. This thing is completely broken or something. I am using SponExcel Silica.

Hard to read
It’s pretty hard to read at low concentrations. Easier on higher ones

Doesn't work
If you check some reef forums online you will find out this product doesn't work. I could dump in. A Bucket of silicate and this would still read 0.0. Vendor doesnt allow refunds. Awful all around.
