I call it the Airfare Buster Backpack!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I liked this backpack so much I decided to make a short video about it.Here is the backstory of how I found this pack and why I like it so much.Airlines now sell super cheap ‘Basic Economy’ fares. With this fare you are not allowed to carry-on a roller bag. And if you try to take a roller you pay the check bag fee plus a penalty of $25 at the gate.In my experience they will let you on at the gate with a backpack as a personal item that may be bigger than their personal item spec. This made me look for a backpack that expands to fit the stuff I normally put in my roller but also compresses so that I can use it as my computer day bag after I arrive at my destination. This pack is just perfect for this!In its compact form it is just a bit bigger than my normal computer bag with a nice sleeve for my computer. It has a fantastic expansion system (see the video) which allows me to pack everything that was in my roller. It has compression straps so that I can cynch it down to a size that will fit under my seat if necessary. It is super light and super durable. It has just the right number of external pockets (I hate having too many cuz I just lose stuff). The price is insanely great. I can’t believe they can manufacture and ship it for $34!!! It pays for itself twice over on just one trip where I save $30 each way for checked bag fees.Bring on those super saver Basic Economy fares I’m in! :)

Cheap fabrics, zippers, paddings
Cheap fabrics have something in common. It has stiffness and creates louder noise when it is rubbed.Low quality zippers don’t glide smoothly and they make high pitch noise.Back panel is like a cardboard so I feel like carrying a moving box with fabric. It says “Ergonomically designed”, but I don’t see or feel any level of comfort from this backpack.Inside pockets are joke. It is gravity dependable open pockets so stuff come out from jumping movements and upside-down.I would rather pay more for decent backpack.

Fits tons, easily a carry-on, good quality and great value
We are getting ready for a family trip so I have bought several back-packs. This is the one sure winner for size, quality, price, etc. All of the parts seem to be of high-quality and comparable quality to the Osprey (expensive backpack) bought for my wife. The black bag has a look like the typical Swissgear backpacks used by huge numbers of business travelers (including me) but this is bigger and has more features like the hip belt/support, chest/sternum strap, compression straps, expandable bottom, hooks and cables to attach things, etc. It is not as good as the SwissGear for adding in notebook computers and cables so I actually carried a small laptop bag as an extra which could actually fit in the NEVO Rhino bag, if needed. For three 4-night trips I had too much space in this bag which was fine as you can zip up the lower expansion section and use the compression staps to make it seem smaller.Carrying it on planes I still felt like a very light packer compared to people with their roller-bags. I think even quite full this back would be fine as a carry-on since it is compressible and soft (no internal frame) but it is not likely good to get under the seat. I put it in the compartment, above, even on regional jets.I liked this bag so much that I also bought the NeveRhino 40L back that has the internal frame. It was VERY nice and very comparable to the 30L Osprey we bought. Problem with that 40L bag was that it was MUCH smaller than this 45/55L back being reviewed. It was even smaller than the 30L Osprey. So we returned that one but it did confirm the high overall quality of the NEVO Rhino brand. If it really was 40L compared to this bags 45L (when not expanded) then it would have been great. It is hard to figure how those capacities are estimated but this bag being reviewed is at least double the capacity of that 40L (25L??).

Very roomie, and no confusing pockets
Usually when you get big backpacks, they have a ton of confusing pockets all over the place. I think that's my favorite part about this that there are just big pockets, and not little pockets inside of those. (Tons of pockets are USUALLY good for traveling, not hiking) I also like the fact that there are a ton of straps on the outside to cinch everything down so it is more compact. I must say though, my favorite feature is the expansion on the bottom. Usually when you have expansions like that, there are zippers on the inside that you have to unzip to make it bigger. This one does not have an interior divider, which I do not like. I got this for an overseas trip that I am fixing to take, and was pleasantly surprised how much I was able to fit in it. Very happy with the sturdiness so far, and I will update this upon my return from my trip. So far so good, and very comfortable on my back also. Oh, the headphone Port is very nice, but I use it in a different way. I actually have a USB C cable running through the air to a battery pack. All of my headphones are now wireless, so this seemed like a perfect switch.

wonderful backpack
This very comfortable backpack can hold a lot and still have a room I took it on a trip hiking and it held everything I need for the 3 days. it has many pockets and very durable. The mesh backing allows air to flow thru and you don't get that spot on your back where you sweat. the hip belt pads are so comfortable once you have it on you don't even notice it. I added a hydration bladder to mine and the set up of this bag is better than ones I have spent 100 and more on. it can even be washed in the washer, I did, however, hang dry it. The zippers no matter how rough you are on then don't break and they stay closed. I like that it can hold two other drinks or in my case on side pocket held the umbrella and the other my drink. my phone clipped nicely to it an did not come off the entire trip which to me in the woods in a great thing.
