Japanese Sencha (Shizuoka) Premium Loose Leaf Green Tea - Chiswick Tea Co - 250g

I was definitely lost when it came to choosing which green tea to buy and in all honesty resigned myself to probably having to buy a few different ones to find a good one. I gave this a shot as being at the cheaper end of the scale, there's not much to lose at £4 delivered. I think I struck lucky though! Even in its dehydrated form the tea is a deep green colour and as mentioned in another review there's no bits of stalk in there, just tea leaves (see the attached photo). There would be no issue with this in a strainer either as the pieces are quite large. The taste is lovely, not too strong but definitely better than most others I've tried. I feel a bit of a fraud for knocking 1 star off though as it's nothing to do with the tea itself; the packaging is just REALLY difficult to open if like me you're unlucky enough for the rip off strip to leave only a tiny amount of plastic left. Still at least the stress of opening it is relieved by the lovely tea!UPDATE: Forgot to mention, the delivery originally came up as 7 days, it arrived after only 2 though.

I am a great lover of green tea and sencha in particular. Unfortunately, it is not always easy to buy good quality authentic Japanese Sencha. And it is not always possible to do it without breaking the bank. This is why I am very pleased with this tea - it tastes fantastic and looks great when brewed. Despite the standard advice to brew it at 70ish centigrade, I like mine done at 90ish, with that slight bitterness. This is the beauty of Japanese Sencha - everyone can find happy grounds depending on how you prepare it.Dear Seller, please stay on Amazon so that I can buy this wonderful tea again in future.

Nice quality tea ! Will definitely buy again

The delivery was quick. The product packing was presentable. The tea looked the same as in the photo. On the nose I didn't like it. But it tasted fresh and nice. Although I would prefer Fujian Oolong over Sencha.

The leaves are dark and deep green, almost closer to a Gyokuro shaded tea in colour. The flavour is sweet, subtle and grassy, this is very much not a strong tea so ensuring you have high quality water is a must (avoid tap water with this one). This is one of the highest quality Sencha teas I have seen at its price range and is a must have if you are a fan of Japanese green teas.

I am a regular green tea drinker, tried many different varieties and from my experience with the green teas - it's a fairly good one. Also a good value for money.

This is supposed to be a 'premium' green tea. It wasn't any better than the cheap Sencha brands I've tried. The tea is a straw colour and of average flavour.

So much better to have real Japanese tea than that made by others. A fine fragrant brew.
