As a referee, these are a must! The Sonic Blast is just a bit different than the regular Fx40 and the difference is noticeable. The molded teeth protector is a plus and worth the extra $. They function as expected with clear resounding burst of high frequency sound that alert the athletes of my calls or need for their attention. As a coach, these are a must to call for attention and alert for changes being made.

I use this for officiating football. Fox are excellent products, and these are no exceptions. I don't use the breakaway that it comes with so I can't speak to that. I use other attachments. I don't hesitate recommending these to anyone. Having three, I shouldn't need to buy any more whistles for a long time.

This is an awesome whistle and can be heard far away. But know that in choosing the Sonic Blast version, it’s a little larger in the mouth than the standard Fox 40 whistle. As a result, it’s not as comfortable when kept in the mouth for long periods of time as the standard version. All that said, the CMG (cushioned mouth guard) is a must.

My coworker bought this and blew it. ITS LOUD! I work in traffic and the cars act like they don’t hear a normal fox 40 whistle. I bought a 3 pack & my mom did TOO! It’s comfortable to wear, high visibility yellow that coordinates with our uniform. A little pricey compared to regular fox 40 whistles, but you can’t be cheap when it comes to safety.
