Rustic Scaffold Board Heavy Duty Shelf Brackets/Shelving Industrial Iron/Steel (Pair) by BMF Direct® (200x200mm (~8″x8″))

Exceptionally poor workmanship. I purchased four of these brackets and all are neither square on the vertical nor horizontal plane. Described as ‘rustic’ is not an excuse for the dangerously sharp edges which have only been given a cursory once over with a grinder. I took these to a local blacksmith to get them straightened, he threw them on the scrap pile and made four new ones for a tenner.

I bought these to put up some 7ft long scaffolding board shelves which I bought separately from eBay. I bought 5 x pairs, as I needed 9 brackets. That’s my only real criticism, I would have liked to be able to buy individually. Anyways, I got the brackets and the shelves followed a month or so later as they were made to order. I sat wondering what screws I’d need and so went on Amazon to check out the listing - the listing said screws and plugs were included. Then I read the reviews and it seemed that they weren’t fit for purpose (multiple reviews state the plugs are shorter than the screws and so people have purchased longer skinnier plugs, people have stated the brackets aren’t straight, or have sharp bits - I found no such thing...). I am impatient and a bit of a haphazard DIYer (much to my dads dismay!) so I just thought ah “screw” it - pun intended - I’ll just use what came with it. Which I did and I am MORE than pleased with the results. My shelves look amazing. The brackets are rustic, fit for purpose, and the screws AND plugs are absolutely fine. I’m currently enjoying a glass of wine admiring my handy work - even my dad is impressed! Great value for money and great quality, totally self explanatory and trust me - if I can put them up ANYONE can!

The brackets themselves are great, they are just solid pieces of iron that look great with rustic shelves. However, the raw plugs and screws supplied are neither appropriate for the brackets nor for each other. The grey plugs were far too wide for the black screws, and the screws were much too long for the plugs. The brackets held no weight with the plugs and screws supplied and had to be re-fitted with plugs and screws we had in the house already. I would recommend the brackets themselves as value for money, but only with the caveat that they cannot be put up with the materials provided and therefore require additional purchases.

Had my doubts about these, as shelf brackets without the usual 45 degree support seemed counter intuitive. However, having bought a set to check them out, they are extremely sturdy.They are as described - made from 6mm mild steel plate and, for a normal length shelf filled with books/jars/ornaments/medium-sized elephants, I doubt these are going to deflect to any noticeable degree.Other reviewers have left unfavourable comments on the finish, but I found the finish to be absolutely fine. Considering that they are supposed to have a rustic look, they are obviously 'unfinished', in that they have not been finely sanded to a high polish and then clear laquered. They have, however, received finishing appropriate to their intended look and use. There are no sharp edges, they are free of oil, swarf and any other contaminants collected during manufacture - they are just plain, clean steel and, to me at least, look just fine, and exactly what I was after.Just need to buy a few more now.

Heavier than expected, very basic and poorly finished. My main criticism though is that the bracket arm was NOT at right angles to the vertical fixing post (actually about 95 degrees). Consequently the shelf badly sloped towards you. I had to go to a local blacksmith to correct the error. But he did say that he could not have made them for any less than I paid for them - so that's a plus point!

Ok if you want rustic / unfinished chunky solid brackets. Finishing is quite rough but is the desired look for us.Fixing holes are not the same per bracket so level installation is a pain unless you have a laser level (I have and suggest you use one to fit these)Wall plugs supplied are ‘ok’ but the screws are incorrect. Too thin, they’re more like plasterboard screws. Use thicker ones. Also use squash washers so the screw heads tighten against the bracket. These aren’t supplied.

These supports are really great. Very sturdy and give a fantastic industrial look. I agree with other reviews that the wall plugs supplied are better swapped out for thinner, longer ones.

Not given 5 * as these were filthy when I got them out of the box. Obviously came straight off the cutting/ melting machine and straight into the box. Got black everywhere. Other than that these do what it says on the tin. Very sturdy and look good with a reclaimed scaffold board. Just wish there were cheaper options for multiple orders as would love to buy more .
