Q: Would this work for a fireplace?

THIS ITEM DIDN'T WORK AT ALL. THE FAN WOULD START RUNNING BUT THE HEATER DIDN'T WORK - I COULD HOLD MY HAND IN FRONT OF IT, IN THE AIRSTREAM WITHOUT GETTING MY HAND BURNT!!! I went through the usual procedure to return the item as faulty but I did not get a refund. Amazon instructed me to return the item following their usual process, which I did. I still didn't get a refund, and Amazon contacted the seller on my behalf but still no refund. The seller then contacted me direct and said he would give me a full refund as long as I didn't follow Amazon's rules or inform them as it would go against him with Amazon. As I had already got Amazon involved I couldn't do that, and, to cut a long story short, after MANY MANY emails to the seller and to Amazon I still got nowhere. Eventually, Amazon contacted me to say that as I had now received a refund they were closing the case. I contacted them again to tell them that I hadn't received any refund but they said that as the case was closed it couldn't be re-opened. The seller presumably thought that I had got a refund from Amazon, and, presumably, Amazon thought I had got a refund from the seller. To this day I have never received a refund from either party, even though I had followed Amazon's instructions to the letter. It took MONTHS out of my life and frustrated me beyond belief, so if you take my advice I would NOT take a chance on buying this item from this seller as it might not work, and you might have to commit a great deal of time trying to get your money back.

Q: What is the length of the power cable?

It's about 2.5m long, so not massive but useful. I always have mine on an extension lead with and rcd for outdoor use anyway.
