Great Value! I first used this with Canon 580ex II and adapter bracket. though there was some light loss and the bracket felt stressed with the weight of the dish, it produced some amazing pictures with incomparable softness and wrap around. the grid greatly drops the light output and I would only recommend using it with a higher powered monolight or if the beauty dish is very close to your subject. it would also be nice to have the option to buy extra diffuser socks. Mine got mixed up in a model's wardrobe, but I have been shooting without it and it works fine.Now. the added value. I have since upgraded to AlienBees B800s, and purchased a 12$ adapter to fit and it works perfectly and feels much more balanced with the backweight on the tripod. (search O6 6" Metal Mounting Flange Adapter Ring for Alienbees)My only other complaint is that since it is huge and heavy, it doesn't really have a carrying case and is cumbersome to store. Having a 16" beauty dish that is MUCH more compact, I still say that the 18" produces much better light coverage and quality. If this is going to be a fixed dish in a studio on a strong tripod - Awesome! If you are traveling with it like I do... expect to make an extra trip to the car because you can't carry much else while you have this in hand. Mine has some pretty deep dings from transit and storage, but the porcelain coated interior has not cracked at all. Pros - This beauty dish produces excellent quality light and helps me create stunning images. The L-bracket and cold shoe for attaching the flash are the best quality I have ever seen on this type of equipment.Drawbacks - it is bulky (it's not going to fit in a regular lighting bag) and the provided ball head attachment cannot support the weight of the dish, let alone with the added flash. However, the ball head UNSCREWS from the post that attaches to the bracket. I would suggest just unscrewing it and using a more sturdy umbrella holder to attach the dish to a stand.

This is pretty good for the money you pay. The material for the shell and the dome are good. The honeycomb is flimsy to pop in, but once its in, it's good to go.The speedlite adapter had to be modified to allow a receiver to be used. I think most people would use remote triggers with this beauty dish.I used an extra set screw I had laying around from a ballhead instead of the provided thumb screw to get the height adjustment to where I needed it to be in order for the flash with receiver to fit the ring adapter opening.Overall, I think it's well worth the money spent.

Excellent value for your money and works really really well. However the speedlite bracket supplied is GARBAGE.. Mine came with the ball joint type and were it presses into the L bracket became loose on first use, actually with in 2mins of using it. It cant handle the weight of the dish with one speedlite.. So that is a bumber..

I have been searching so many lighting equipment and I stumbled on this beauty dish from Fotodiox. This lighting kit is so easy to install, easy to use and provides a beautiful light (of course you have to know your lighting situation).I am a portrait artist and I cannot live without this beauty dish. Worth the money spent!

Oh how I love the quality of light with this dish! The only con is transporting the dish and grid without getting damaged! Keeping boxes that dish and grid arrivied in until I can think of something else. Photo attached shot with beauty dish.

For the price you can't beat it. I'm a wedding photographer and this little gadget is great for groups at weddings. easy to set up and I love anything that will work with my speed lights.
