Great cargo bag - it will protect your luggage/cargo!
After our first 1300 mile roundtrip, we are very pleased with the Rola Tuffbak Cargo Bag. We used it in the Reese Pro Carrier along with a cargo net. I believe that the straps alone will suffice to secure this bag, but either a cargo net or extra tie downs are always nice for peace of mind.Other than really hot, we didn't really fully test the bag as our weather was decent. We did hit a few patches of light rain, but nothing severe, and the bag handled perfectly - no moisture inside. The bag will get hot inside and was very hot to the touch externally after being in the direct sun, but it's a black bag, do that's kind of to be expected.I would recommend watching a you-tube video for attaching and using the straps. We found it to be very helpful and made it easy to install. We did unpack it for an overnight at a hotel, at our destination, then again upon returning home. It's definitely an extra step to load/unload, but nothing that's over bearing or difficult. Also, it is true what a reviewer said, definitely make sure you have everything in your suitcases before you zip it up!!!In terms of durability, it's held up well after our initial trip and getting tossed around a few times. No scratches, marks, rips, etc. The straps are holding up well and so far it's been a great protector that I can see us using on future trips. As other reviewers have stated, it's not a true rigid box, it's more of a collapsible folding bag, but you can push it out and lift it into form very easily and it definitely has a thick, protective feel to it. We preferred the loose nature of the bag as it allowed us to tie it down tight so that our license plate wasn't covered. We packed 2 x large suitcases plus 3 x carry-on sized suitcases and still had room to spare if we needed it.Overall, I think that the Rola Tuffbak is a great cargo protector!

1st Bag performed perfect for 3 years, My fault, I tore a hole in the top
1st Bag performed perfect for 3 years, I tore a hole in the top with my electric bike layingacross strapped down, my fault. I am now on my 2nd bag and trust it to keep my gearinside dry and out of the weather conditions as I travel across USA. I have a curt foldingcargo carrier 18153 measuring 60x24x24. Thi s bag fits perfect. 30,000 miles using my1st bag thru desert, mountains, etc. The zippers have held up because I don't force them,I line up the zippers and lightly zip up with care....Take care of your zippers and this bagwill last a very long time. 2 THUMBS UP FOR ROLA BAG!

Perfect bag with LOTS of space!
We just got back from a 1,400 mile road trip and this bag worked excellent! I wanted to find something that would utilize the full size of my hitch basket and this was perfect. A few things that I did on mine:1. I installed some 1/2" PVC pipe and fittings (didn't glue them) as I've seen others with the same idea. Doing this made the bag so much easier to load and get closed up. It was about $20 worth of piping but I'd highly recommend it.2. After seeing a review of someone's bag that melted due to exhaust heat, I also added a sheet of tin on the basket floor near my exhaust. I also added some cardboard as an insulation barrier. I checked on the bag the entire trip and found that the tin and cardboard seemed to help with the heat. The tin was hot to the touch but the bag was just warm. The 24" x 24" sheet was $11 from Lowe's.3. As I knew that that there would be a chance that I would need more room, I decided to buy an elastic cargo net which proved to come in handy! We ended up buying some boogie boards at the beach and the net coupled with some bungee straps held them perfectly! The net was $27 on Amazon (titled 22"x38" Super Duty Bungee Cargo Net).Overall, I'd highly recommend this product. While we didn't go through any rain, I would say the bag is pretty weather proof. The only place I could see water getting in is the zipper but the bag is designed to cover the zipper if it's fitted correctly. If the zipper is exposed or in spot that would collect water, you'll get leaks. If you are really worried about anything getting wet, some garbage bags around anything that needs to stay dry would be a good backup.

Solid, Sturdy Cargo Carrier Bag
We recently purchased a Curt Hitch and Cargo basket and felt the Curt brand carrier bag was too small so we decided to purchase this one instead. It has only been used once so far on a 5-day camping trip about a 3-hour vehicle ride away. The bag seems durable enough. The zippers worked well and seem like they will hold up to extended use. The straps that come with this carrier bag worked well with the Curt cargo basket. We loaded up a 116 quart cooler, 5 collapsible camp chairs, a collapsible camp table, a 10 x 18 tent packed in it's carrying case, a 7 x 9 tent packed in it's carrying case, and a 8"x 8"x 8" box of fire starter. After carefully packing the items and strapping it down, I admit to being a little nervous because I had never road with a cargo basket before. So I double checked everything and we started on our journey.Though I was ever conscious of what I was carrying at the back of the van, it really did all ride smoothly. When we got to our destination, it appeared nothing had shifted at all. It wall all as it was originally packed when the cargo carrier bag was unzipped. The return trip home went just as smoothly and so far we really like the setup we have here. I am curious to see how it does in the rain so I may decide to set it up empty one day and hose it down to see if any water gets in it. If it does I will just be more conscious of not putting anything in it that I am not comfortable getting wet.
