Deacon Wives: Fresh Ideas to Encourage Your Husband and the Church

Purchased these for the wives of new Deacons in our church recently. Also purchased one for myself although my husbands been a Deacon for many years now. Book is very thorough and has proven to be helpful.

I enjoyed reading this book. It has some great ideas for a Deacons wife & even useful for the deacon himself to read!

I found this book when planning a retreat for our new deacon wives several years ago, and was so impressed that now I buy this book for every new deacon wife in our church each year. It’s a great foundational resource to add to your Bible when trying to discover what it can look like to live a life that serves the church and honors God.

This is a great resource for Deacon's wives. It allows those of us in this position to read something beneficial to support our service and ministry.

I ordered this book because I had been asked to speak Words of Wisdom to the wives at a Deacon's ordination Service. After viewing the first two pages on Amazon, I ordered two books bacause after I got the material I needed I was going to present them to the new Deacon Wives. When the books came, I fell in love with with it. It is so informative. It has so many good ideas and for projects you can use. Plus it is an easy read. I thought of two other young ladies who recently became deacon's wives, plus my sister who is president of the Deaconess Board at her church,she could use it for training and highlights of things to do at their Deaconess meeting and ofcourse I ordered one for myself. So I ordered four more. It is a wonderful book to have if you are a deacon's wife. It's a wonderful book to have if you are active with any group in your church or to just read and look at yourself.

I recently became a deacon's wife and wanted a book to read so I could be an encouragement to my husband and our church. What an amazing book! Mrs. Davis clearly has lots of experience and has drawn from other women's experiences in the same position to present an articulate book on how a deacon's wife can best serve those around her. Our church doesn't have many extra activities or groups and it was easy for me to skip past those pages and focus on simple tips like keeping a notebook in my Bible to write down visitors names, loving and supporting your pastor and his wife, encouraging other deacon's wives and keeping a smiling face! I have 3 small children and was afraid the book would give me lots of burdensome ideas but it was extremely refreshing and helpful knowing I can do simple things and still make a huge difference.

Some suggestions no longer apply post-pandemic but still good content.

There is not a lot of information for deacon's wives. Sometimes older wives take a younger one under wing and teach her. For those who are still wondering what their "job description" is, this book is full of information. It is easy to read and full of ideas to encourage you, your husband, your pastor and his wife, and the people in your church. It also has some nice ways to bond a relationship to the other deacon's wives and ways to minister and pray together. I highly recommend it.
