Invaluable
This is my favorite ruler. I use it in my office, for craft projects, for home improvement projects—whenever I need to measure, draw, or cut a straight line. I have Westcott’s 12” stainless steel ruler as well, but I use this one more often. I appreciate the engraved markings, having standard and metric units, and of course the cork backing to keep it in place. It even has a hole at one end, so I hang it on a pushpin for easy access. I feel confident using a blade to cut against this edge. Just be careful with felt-tip markers or pens as the steel edge can cut into them as you mark a line.

My second Westcott 18-incher . . .
This is my second Westcott 18-inch steel rule. My first resides in my garage workshop and when I needed a longer-reach rule, I had to leave my second-floor study, get the rule, go back up a long slight of stairs, use the straight-edge, and then -back downstairs to replace the rule - and then, back upstairs to complete my work. Then, it (finally!) hit me - get a second rule for the study. Now, no more trudging and a faster, better completion of my work . . . . !

Great Ruler But
Great ruler, I've used one for years in my wood shop. Warning I wouldn't try to remove the manufacturers tag on the back of the ruler. It's very easy to mess up the cork on the back of the ruler. Why do manufacturers make removing their tags so difficult?

Works well, flexible but not flimsy
It’s a ruler. I like the cork backing, which prevents it from sliding around when I’m using it to make straight lines on slippery material. As some reviewers have pointed out It’s flexible. But it doesn’t seem flimsy or cheaply made. My only complaint is that the tag is firmly adherent to the cork backing. I couldn’t remove it without damaging the cork. Put it somewhere else or make it easier to remove. Would recommend to others.

every artist should have one!
An essential tool for all sorts of pen/pencil artistry. From perspective drawings to arts and crafts, you need one.Its construction is stainless steel with a cork backing. The cork prevents the ruler from sliding around on your work surface without adhering to it and tearing it up. The cork is also not too thick as to skew your reading of the measuring gradations too much. It also provides an "inking edge" for all your pen drawings.I have also come to use it as a straight-edge guide from my Xacto knife blades. Great tool!

Good Metal Rulers but...
I like using the metal rulers. I've got the 15" Westcott rulers and use them all the time. I wanted more so there is always one close to where I'm working.I thought the 18" 3 pack would be just like my 15" rulers. The 18" seems a little thinner, but the big issue that drops stars is the ruler doesn't start at the end. It doesn't start measuring until a few millimeters in so you can't push the ruler to the edge of an object to measure it. The picture shows the 18" ruler above the 15".I fixed this by grinding the edges flush to the 0 mm, 0 inch marks.

Anti slip
I do a lot of paper crafting, and the plastic ruler I had moved too much when cutting. I remember that I used a cork back one while studying in college for art. I ordered one, and this is just the thing I need!
