Innovative Scuba Concepts for Spiny Lobster Season - Aluminum

Purchased this on Amazon prior to heading to the Florida Keys for lobster season. Didn't know what to expect down there for prices, but was somewhat expecting prices to be high. Imagine my surprise when I saw racks of these in a Kmart for $1.99. Definitely not a good value. Incidentally, when Amazon had the link for me to click on, it says "aluminum," but the product I purchased was plastic. That might have been a more reasonable price for an aluminum, but definitely not for plastic. Tip for anyone doing what I did - heading to the Keys and not knowing what to expect for prices, or worrying about them being sold out due to the popularity of lobster season - you can buy a net, gloves, tickle stick, and lobster gauge as a kit for around $25 in dozens of stores. Poor value online.

With Spiny Lobster season in full swing, the husband wanted a gauge to help quickly measure the carapace length to ensure his bug hunt was legal. The Innovated Scuba Concepts Spiny Lobster Gauge worked perfectly at measuring lobsters and ensured that all catches were over 3". The tool is bright and easy to spot if you happen to drop it, and has a secure loop to keep the tool on your wrist for easy access. It's a great tool to keep on hand to make sure all your catches count.

This gauge isn't even close! I matched it to the gauge FL law enforcement uses and it is at least an 1/8 inch too large. FL FWC uses Capt Van's gauge model 81-8801. I will return this gauge. The only plastic gauge I've found to be exactly 3 inches is purple and made by Gator Buckets.

Works great and stays attached on the wrist. Beware of Barracuda though as this gauge shines and flickers like a baitfish. I recommend to slide into the top of your diving glove if using it underwater. I used it for over 35 hours of diving and loved it.
