DreamSky deShedding Tool For Small, Medium & Large Dogs/Cats With Short And Long Hair

sturdy, works well; our cats like it
We have 5 indoor cats, two of which are long-haired cats that need regular brushing. I have tried a variety of pet combs and brushes in an effort to find one that the cats will tolerate well while removing excess hair. Of the ones I have used over the years, including one costing twice a much purchased from a local pet store, this DreamSky deshedding tools seems the one they like best. This tool has good metal construction. The head has two sides to it, one for removing larger clumps of matted hair, and the other for more regular brushing. The tips are blunted to prevent injuries to pets while brushing. The brush seems to easily remove excess hair, and our cats seem to enjoy being brushed with it. For the money this is a great brush to use on any cat or dog with long hair to remove excess hair and break up matted hair clumps.

Great for the price
Bought this to brush out my akita/husky mix on the recent lightning deal for $9. Classic double coat. The brush got out a decent bit of fur but his skin is pretty sensitive and he did NOT like this brush. He kept twitching his skin while I was brushing him like the brush was pulling at his skin. This doesnt happen with his pin brush, his knockoff furminator, or his legit furminator brush. The best part about this brush is that it is super easy to get the hair out of the brush and you can do multiple passes before cleaning it out unlike the furminator brush.I had high hopes but it looks like the furminator wins.

Seems great right now
We have been using a Furminator on our medium-length, double-coated dog. We thought it was doing a decent job of getting her undercoat because it removed so much hair.... that was until we tried this Dreamsky. During the first session, it was clear that this brush was to going to get so much more hair out. I presume this is because each tine on the tool has a sharpish edge that must cut the hair? My only concern is that cutting the undercoat seems to be what gets some people upset about these types of rakes. Maybe they know something I don't. I will have to wait and see I guess. So, it seems great right now but the long-term effect is unknown.

Ripped out their undercoat.
It works, but I also feel like it took out too much fur. My cat was visibly thinner after removing the undercoat and all that was left was the harder guard hairs on the outside of her coat. She was much less soft to pet and felt rough. I did not try to use this again as both cats were visibly distressed and pissed at me for using this one them as well. It just felt like I was ripping out their hair instead of grooming them.

like a vise) so I have tried every kind of ...
My cat HATES being groomed, (he clamps onto my hand with his teeth... not biting... like a vise) so I have tried every kind of "pet groomer" on the market. This is the only one that he can tolerate. In fact he doesn't hardly even notice when I run this thing through his fur even though A LOT of hair is being removed. He is a long hair cat with a thick undercoat that gets matted, especially under his armpits. This really does work great.

Great for my cats, mediocre for my short haired dog
This has been absolutely wonderful for the cats! Unfortunately, not so great for the dog.The tool seems to do a great job with longer, soft hair. After just a couple strokes, it removes loose fur easily. My cats are short-haired, but still shed a whole lot. This tool, so far, has proven great. It might be that my cats are already mild tempered, but they don't mind it at all. In fact, they seem to love the extra scratches (until, you know, they've decided they've had enough-because cat).It isn't as effective at gathering the fur on the dog. The best way I've found to get it to work is to pull against the grain, so to speak, which really just loosened the fur. So, definitely an out door past time. The best part for me is that it doesn't appear to hurt my pets at all, which would render it unusable to me. Definitely looking forward to less loose fur all over the apartment.

was absolutely amazed at how well it worked
used it for the first time today on the boys - 2 labrador rescues with longer hair than our previous labs... was absolutely amazed at how well it worked. Our one lab even seemed to be enjoying being "brushed" and normally he is very fidgety during such occasions. The teeth are "soft" compared to other grooming tools that I have used in the past. I would highly recommend this product.
