Disappointed!
I wanted to love this book, I really did! I love Eva Chen and have been following her on IG for ever. I was expecting some of her humor and sparkling personality to show up in her books but this is just awful. Some of the women have a small description of why they’re awesome but then some like Dorothy Hodgkin say: D is for Dorothy a crystallographer who won the Nobel Prize for succeeding in the impossible. And that’s it! A little extra research wouldn’t have gone amiss and neither would better writing skills. Some of the female icons have a quote printed which simply doesn’t co-relate to the blurb next to it. And my 3 year old who LOVES reading just didn’t want to read it again. She’s read her Little People Big Dreams books about 50 times and while a little young, still loved the Ordinary People Change the Wod series too.

Not worth it. There are better books out there.
NOT ONE single Latina/Hispanic woman mentioned? How disappointing. More than half of the woman named here are white... way to go miss the mark BIG TIME on representation.Venus, Roman goddess, was included as a women who changed the world. Why not Queen Victoria since Queen Elizabeth was included OR Venus Williams?I like the mirror at the end and the idea of the ending to include the child reading the book BUT they could’ve definitely done something for X and Y instead of concluding X/Y/Z with the mirror.I’m glad I got this book on sale for $4. It arrived with some damage on the edges. I wouldn’t pay more for this and we have much better feminist books in our collection. This book just looks rushed and I would definitely not recommend.

Great for All Ages!
This was a gift for my four year old granddaughter who likes it very much. Me too. I was inspired to put a photo of myself in it with a bio so she can know a little bit more about me in my youth. In fact, in future editions, A blank page for grandparents or parents to do this would be a great idea. We need to recognize the famous and infamous women in the world and in our lives.

Short-changes 36% (4.54 Billion) of the World's Population
To say this book was a disappointment is an understatement. It actually made me quite angry. Written by a Chinese-American but basically short-changed Asians. This book is arranged by the common theme of "A is for ....," etc.. Of the 23 letters she used, only two were of of Asian descent. Even Teen Vogue did better--they found 4! : Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian-born woman in space, Helen Zia, influential lesbian journalist, Patsy Mink, the first woman of color in Congress, Yuri Kochiyama, revolutionary civil rights activist. Also, my book was warped.

Silly me, I judged a book by it's cover.
Coco Chanel's anti-Semitic past is well documented. Flo Jo's record (although unrevoked) has crippling ties to deeply systemic doping cover ups. Venus the goddess is not an iconic woman who changed the world. Grossly overlooked opportunities for diversity....13 out of 20 were white. Not a single Hispanic representative?? And yeah, the XYZ ending is lazy.

Boys need to learn about women too!
Cute book, mostly. However, I was quite dismayed to discover that the list of featured "sheroes" ended with: "...and X, Y, and Z are for EXTRAORDINARY YOU, and the ZILLIONS of brilliant, brave adventures you will have."First of all, come on, that's just lazy. But more importantly, how terribly backwards it is for a book like this to assume/imply that only girls would or should be reading about women! Boys need to learn about extraordinary women too. As a parent who bought this for my 3-year old son, I am incredibly disappointed.

Inspiring Female Role Models, Great Illustrations, Terse Quotes
Even though this appears designed to be a very young child's board book, it could provide inspirational sound bite boosts to girls of any age (probably aged 8 and way up). It struck me as an A, B, C's moral equivalent of Page-a-Day tear off motivational phrase calendars. With much better graphics in the book than those calendars boast.I think it's great for what it is! Don't buy it for in-depth or even insightful yet terse biographies. Chelsea & Hillary Clinton's books are more of that.My big disappointment in this book, and reason for subtracting a star rating, is the letter "V". Why the heck did the author completely switch gears and throw in a mythological character?!? Why not use Virginia Woolf or Venus Williams or some other V-named real-life successful and inspiring woman or girl? That was a swing and a miss content-wise. The author also copped out on three letters of the alphabet. It's like she ran out of researching steam. But, there's a fun surprise at the end.Overall, I recommend it for what it is and what it does. Keep in mind the caveats above of what it is not before buying.

How can you have a book about inspiring Women with a Nazi in it?
I personally don’t understand how a book published in 2019 missed the memo on Coco Chanel being a Nazi spy. Needless to say, I don’t count her as an inspiring figure and I certainly don’t want my daughter to look up to a Nazi.

Great book
My 1yo son really likes this book - I bought it because I feel like you learn a lot about awesome men through school, etc, but sometimes need to make an effort to teach about strong women. What I don’t like is it seems like the authors assumed this book would be only for girls - the last page is a mirror to reflect another awesome woman...

Great message and illustrations! However, the book arrived damaged
Excellent message being delivered with wonderful illustrations! The first book I ordered came slightly damaged on the back cove (peeled and bent/deformed). I decided to exchange the book for a new one, hoping for better quality. The second book arrived deformed again. Both books came bent (rounded). Decided to keep the product, even though it was not in perfect condition.
